So I read the article about can Massage be sensual.  I will say in my own opinion I feel like my own massages are anything but. They are spiritual to me. I believe anyone who gets a massage takes their own personal experience from it and they percieve it in their own way. I have had clients get excited when Ive done Cranial Sacral somatic emotional release. Who am I to judge how they feel in their own body.  Also Ive had clients take advantage and assult me while on the table because their intention for being their is wrong. So for me my job is to create an enviroment that is soothing, loving, kind, safe and open for change. If anyone takes or recieves their massage in a different way thats fine but because I am lisenced and under a strict code of ethics. I encourage sensual feelings to be taken home or outside my space and be done elsewhere. I dont market this kind of wording in Utah because of our problem with encouraging this type of clientel that is not welcome in my room.

Ive seen this marketed and its taken in the wrong context.

But safe and sooting and theraputic why are these words used. Why cant massage be spirtual or changing. If we can questiin anything why not question energy work as it helps us feel good too?!.

Certainly massage can be spiritual and changing. We are dealing with the age old problem of semantics, or the meaning of words. "Sensual" in the purest meaning just says that something is pleasing to the senses which massage certainly is. However the word has been corrupted to have a sleezy overtone.

My point is that there are therapists who are so afraid of having their massage misunderstood, and therefore they focus on clinical, anatomical, and scientific aspects while they negate the "feel wonderful" aspect of massage. When I get a massage, I just want to feel good and go into this blissful trance-state between waking and sleeping, and shut off mind mind.

The words we use - that's a difficult subject, especially because the meaning of words changes when they are translated into different languages.
