Hi Shama !

and Everybody practicing Thai Massage!

Having joined the Complete Thai Massage Video Training Course, I am going to map my practice progress made on each module here....

I have gone through all the Modules from 1 to 6 received so far....understood the excellent information and skills given therein and practiced during the last 10 days....

Could not give my practice details here due to 2 reasons...

1. being away on my Hockey Coaching assignment

2. not being so familiar to the net/forum posting

But now with the able guidance of my Thai Massage Guru Shama even on use of net and forum postings, I am ready to chart my progress here Module wise...

Later, say coming weekend, I am intending to create my Thai Massage Practice Video Clips and will be going to link here for expert comments from My Teacher Shama as well as comments from fellow practitioners...

Module 1 (Introduction)Dear Shama has so beautifully explained Thai Massage in this Introduction Module. I have well understood from this Video Module

- various massage techniques narrated

- Different Positions for the Thai Massage Therapist particularly sitting on heels/Vajrasana (Yoga pose)

- Tools to be employed while giving massage

- Different Positions for the Client

- the principle of using body weight and not the muscle power while giving Thai Massage

- Yoga-like movements and breathing with awareness

- Breathing out while leaning & Breathing in while coming back

I thank you Dear Shama for creating this wonderful video training program...I am excited to learn more to supplement my yoga skills.

Thank you Dear Shama

Module 2 Chi Machine : As per advice given by Guru Shama in this module to watch thai massage videos repeatedly with patience, I followed this advice and learnt well the therapist positioning and client positioning in the first half of the video.

In the second half of the video in this module, getting information and skill of Chi Machine, I was and am so happy to have found it here in my Thai massage course.  In fact, in India, we have mechanical devices (machines) for this effect...and wow! now I can provide the same relaxing and healing effects with my hands.

Practiced this Chi Machine technique on my wife Preeti and also on my Yoga Guru Krishan...both were so thrilled with its relaxing whole body movements...my son Vansh giggled a lot while I was practicing Chi Machine...in fact we all enjoyed this massage technique. Hip movement the key to Chi Machine has been noted carefully.

Thank you Dear Shama

Sounds like a great start, with lots of people to practice on and positive feedback from them.

Clearly you have overcome any challenges with figuring out the forum. Smile And now you are planning on being the first one here to post practice videos. Maybe you will start a new trend! Laugh

Hi Shama !

Module 3 & 4: Thanks for encouragement... From the Module 3 & 4 I have well understood and practiced various foot massage thai techniques...particularly the knowledge that working on foot affects the entire body as is in the case of Foot Reflexology.

I have fully practiced various foot movements on my wife, son and 2 friends to absorb the thai foot massage sequence. Sometimes during my practice, I started giving muscle pressure then on repeated viewing of the video, I learnt it well to work with my whole body...

Thank you Dear Shama for creating and demonstrating this excellent video course... I can now concentrate on what my and my client body feel while practicing thai foot massage...

with warm regards,

Virender Singh

Module 5 & 6 : Leg warms up and Leg Warm up with the forearm: Taking into account the desirability to warm up muscles before stretching, I have practiced leg warm up from module 5 and then leg warm up with my forearm as explained in module 6...Practiced well warming up with the heels of my palms on the thigh with the variation of hand-placing on both thighs...being aware of my breathing in while leaning and breathing out while coming up...then practiced squeezing of calf muscles...followed up with rolling up....then learnt and practiced leg warm up with my forearm..

Initially once I hurt my wife with the pressure of my elbow...then I took note of actual technique and used my forearm smoothly, giving leg warm up slowly on upper thigh..

Nice training videos...I am loving the course.. Sometimes I feel I am doing my yoga workout while practicing thai massage with an energy exchange....Thanks u have so beautifully explained 5 lines on the width of thigh...

Now I am relieved that I have updated my practice progress upto module 6 here...and working on making my practice video clips.....Hopefully will be able to link my video clips here in my next posting....:)

It is good to hear that you watched the videos more than once. That's how you pick up many things which you missed the first time around.

I think you will become quite popular if you keep practicing a lot on friends and family! Smile

It sounds like you are working very attentively with the material. I am sure that your yoga background will be very helpful with many of the concepts which are presented in the course.  A large percentage of my students have an extensive yoga background, so you are in good company!

Thanks Dear Shama for your encouraging words...

Module 7 & 8 : Leg Stretches: I got module 7 & 8 on different types of leg stretches....followed well by viewing and practicing foot positioning ...as well as knee positioning and holding of knee with fingers-crossed and making circular movements with hip rotation...

then leg stretches with bended knees...loosening of hip joint by circling the leg was so much enjoyed again by t wife like chi machine...

Thank you very much for creating this wonderful training course....this is what in fact I was looking for for the last so many years....

My 2 clips are ready today and I hope to link those here after publishing them on youtube ....

With warm regards....

The fact is that this is the only Thai Massage video training program which is interactive and delivered gradually and is fully supported by the instructor (by me). Everyone else just sells a DVD and that's the end of it. My idea was to create a real online training academy.

I am glad that the training found you and that you made your way into our forum, especially since you will be introducing your training videos. That will be interesting. Smile

You wrote me that you cannot post your videos in the forum. Here is one of your videos. It works fine for me:

I really like your videos as a new forum feature - I hope you set a new trend here, Virender. I already responded to these videos via email, but in essence the technique is correct, it looks exactly right!

Hi Shama ! Thanks for your encouragement....

After a gap of 2 weeks here I am again on the course....Sorry for being late again but I was engaged with my Hockey Tournament/Coaching....

Module 9 & 10: Leg Stretches: Gone through these modules to learn well leg stretches, calf muscle stretches and ankle stretches....You have so beautifully explained in an easy to understand language with so clear videos...Thanks

Having gone through these modules I practiced on my friends and wife, all these stretches to learn the skill of this thai massage....some of the moves are so closely related to Yoga poses like Wind Release Pose and Monkey Pose giving benefits to sciatica, back pain and neck pain...also relieving calf muscles, ankles and hips...

My Sincere Regards for you my dear sir...

I understand that life can get in the way and your forum posts might have to wait a while. Anyway I am glad to see you back.

You noticed very correctly that many Thai Massage techniques are similar to yoga poses which you are very familiar with. Well, Thai Massage and yoga are members of the same family. They are a perfect team!

I receive lots of positive remarks on the summary videos. I think I will make more of those!

You are such a polite and appreciative student - I always enjoy reading your progress reports. Smile

Even if you cannot keep pace, this course is yours for life, and I am not going anywhere either, so we will be in touch for a while, especially since you are just on your first course, with a few more to follow.
