Module #1

I am very excited to get to learn Thai massage.

Module #2

The Chi machine is great. It took me a few tries to get myself in motion and about three to get the motion in my partner. My partner enjoyed.

Module #3

I am still working on this. My sequence is getting better and also my ergonomics. My partner enjoys this. A stretch they have not felt before.

Three tries to get the Chi Machine right is a pretty good record, since that's not a very easy technique.

I am glad you got the forum figured out!

Module#4

Is it ok that the ankle 'pops'. She said it does not hurt. It didn't continue just a few 'pops'. I was not pressing hard or far..she said her ankles pop now and then. I just didn't know if this is 'normal'. She does like to have feet massaged and enjoys my 'training'.

Popping ankles is something you will come across every now and then. Unless it is painful for the client, it is not a problem for the massage. However it does indicate that the client might benefit from some more extensive foot and ankle work.

I like to start with the Chi machine and also end with it. I am really enjoying giving foot massages now. It seems it was limited before but the possibilities are endless. I also enjoy connecting with each client and letting the energy guide the session. I am feeling empowered. Looking forward to what is next.

Foot massage is really great. I get them regularly here in Thailand. If you feel inspired to do that, you can certainly start and end the session with a foot massage. The possibilities are even more endless than you think. There is so much that can be done with Thai Foot Massage that I created an entire course just about this. If you like it so much, that might be the next step for you in the future! Smile

Module #5

My partner enjoyed the 'butterfly' on the thigh muscle and the warm up of the calf muscle. I enjoyed the access to the inner thigh and how comfortable it was to access by positioning the leg out and opening up the inner area and now worrying about being too close to the crotch.

Module #6

The forarm work is the best for the upper thigh. My partner enjoyed the rocking of the leg mostly at the hip. Getting the rocking at a comfortable rate took some communication. I like the technique of the elbow to the ITB. I have used my thumbs before but that tires them on that strong muscle. It feels effortless to use the elbow but still have control on the amount of pressure.

Module #7

I like to read the clients to see where they are tight before I warm them up and do stretches to see if I am right with my reading.  Partner enjoys the 'elephant walk'. Both of us were not comfortable with the stretch/walk with the feet. We will try it again. Both of us enjoyed the 'knee pull/rock'. It was comfortable to give.

Module #8

I really like the 'hip pie' to visualize in my mind where I started and where I wanted to go next. It helps me with a routine. Client liked the 'calf circles' and 'fluffing'. With my partner I could not go too far in with the stretch of the hamstring she was too tight but the rocking was perfect for her. I have several clients that are runners and I feel they will benefit with the calf circles and the hamstring stretches.  Today was a little better with the hamstring stretch. She wanted to focus on that and the calf fluffing. LaughAs well as the Chi machine. I look forward to being the client!

Especially on big muscles it is always better not to use the thumbs too much. That's one of the great features of Thai Massage that you can work with so many body parts, so there is no reason to over stress thumbs and hands.

When a direct pressure technique is too much for a client, it is always a good idea to switch to a rocking movement as this will always be more mellow.

Module #9

My partner today enjoyed the hamstring stretches.  I found it very comfortable to preform theses stretches and it very natural for my entire body to lean into these. As you said, certain people don't need much of a stretch. I also did the rocking technique and my partner also enjoyed.

Module #10

When I did the adductors I had to concentrate on my pressure...that is a sensitive area when muscle is tight. My partner was not as flexible so I used pillows to support her leg. I used rocking too. My partner enjoyed the adductor stretch the next few times that I did them because I concentrated on my pressure and felt and leaned into the muscle.

Module #10

I am in the medical field as well as a Massage therapist and I am not fond of the 'blood stop'. This will be something that I will be leaving out of my practice. I have no way of knowing if the client is healthy enough for this move. The risks out way the benefits for me.  I like doing the adductor stretch by walking the leg up. That could be an entire session. Partner enjoyed that as well. The back stretch was described as 'heavenly'.Laugh

Module 11

I like how there are different modules. Every client is different and has different abilities. So I can use the modules to create a 'dance' for each one individually. I enjoyed watching how you put yours together and made it flow so nice.  I work each time on my flow. And my partner likes when I practice daily. Wink

It all sounds pretty good. Your partner is enjoying the practice, you got the "heavenly" feedback, and it seems that you are catching the essential principles behind it. Smile

Module #12

I like that you give us different was to do the same stretch. I liked doing the 'all in one' stretch for the calf, leg, and hip. When I spend more time in one area I used this to fill in but my partner felt complete. I really liked doing the SI stretch. The sacroiliac joint is usually sore and needs attention and this move really feels nice.

Module 13

My partner likes the sessions. I start them differently each time, I don't even think about how I am going to start or the 'routine' I let the energy guide me. And it is working.

Module #14

The rocking of the hips was good. I need to work on going with the natural motion of the rocking. My client had good feed back with the amount of pressure of the 'elephant' walk. I needed to slow down and feel for the correct amount of pressure.

Module #14

The rocking is more natural and flowing.  I have become more aware of my pressure. I am still working on my posture for easier movement around the client. At times I feel I concentrate more on how I will move to not interrupt the session.
