Module 1

I have to say it’s fun to be taking another course from Shama. My husband was kind enough to be my client today as I practiced the shoulder work. He said the techniques felt good but at one point said it hurt a bit on the left side . Not sure if it was the position of my hand or the fact that he had just come back from a long bike ride and was sore in general, but after I moved my hand he never complained again. I did the work with him on my mat but will try it on the table eventually since that is how I work most of the time.

Hi Trina, welcome back to another course. This one will be quite different from your previous courses, and I can't wait to hear how it works out for you. Smile

Module 2

I’m glad you added sternum work to the course because I learned it but it was years ago, so it’s is a nice refresher to have. My practice parter enjoyed all the techniques including the rocking ones. I was wishing I was the one on the mat so I could experience how it felt. Maybe one day I can talk him into making that switch. At one point I noticed my forearm touched his chin so it was a great reminder to not get sloppy and pay attention to my own body. I was able to maintain a comfortable position throughout the practice which is not always the case. I do think it could be tricky to do some of the techniques on certain women but I guess I will find out as I practiced on some in the future.

Very true, in the HHM system you have to be very aware of where your own body parts are because you are often very close to the client's head. It is easy to inadvertently brush the client's face (even if just with your shirt), for example, which would be very irritating for the client. So this is great for developing better body control.

Module 3

My client really enjoyed these techniques and in fact said he almost fell asleep. He commented on how relaxed he was at the end. The elephant walk always gets me in a nice flow, Thai massage in general feels almost like a dance. Unfortunately I don’t have the best back myself so the final technique (upper body twist ) didn’t feel so great to me. I start PT in a couple weeks. The client enjoyed it once he realized he didn’t need to help.

Sleeping clients are always a good testimony - particularly in Heavenly Head Massage treatments. Especially towards the end of a Heavenly Head Massage session, if the client is not drifting off into a sleep/trance state, I would be wondering if I did a good job! Smile
