Module 1

First I want to tell you this is my first online training course. I like your teaching Technics and it is very easy to understand. I am not very good at English but I can understand what I hear. I will describe what I learnt by this module. It is about introduction for Thai massage, quality of touch, energy flow, specially massage Technics and tools. I like your lecture about positions of therapist, because it is very helpful for me. now I know, how to do a massage in comfortably. And also I learnt how to breath while doing therapy. This is very exciting module. I think this is very good course. I appreciate for that you are preparing this course for online learners.

Thank you.

Module-2 :-  First Off All I Would like to convey my sincere apologies for the delay in sending this text, this is due to the reason that a close friends father passed away and i got busy helping  him out.  but now i would be able to send my work without any delays hopefully, [ dear sir I got a help form my

My experience- when i first saw the video sent by you i felt that it would be hard to perform these tasks but when i tried , it was not as hard as it seemed. but saying that when i was performing this act felt a acute pain in my ankle which made me uneasy. i feel this pain is due performing this act on a yoga mat which is comparatively thinner. is this the opening act in the therapy or are we allowed to perform it in the later stage?

Client Feedback

Mr Ali: Stretching- lying face up, when one leg is folded towards the chest and pressed the other leg which is straight on the floor tends to move inward and the knee seems to getting much stiff, but if he holds the leg on the floor with one hand then there seems to be no such effect as stated above.

Chi Machine: as i have finished my daily workout and when he holds both my legs by the ankle and suspends in the air and i am lying face up on the floor,  then he starts to shake to and fro gently. now i feel well relaxed and my upper body towards the chest i would feel the shaking  of my body and after a while i felt quite calmed and chilled and almost fell asleep.

Abdul: Stretchin- felt increased pain at the joint between pelvic and femer as the stretch extended but felt better much more flexible after release. Chi Machine : felt relaxed as my body was oscillate slowly side to side on a repeated loop, the slow vibe action sent waves of relaxed aura throughout the body.

[ Dear sir: i would like to tel you know that i am indeed getting some help form a friend of mine to send this details as my english is not upto the mark i do find it bit difficult to explain my thoughts in a strong manner, hope it is alright to do so]

Don't worry about keeping up with the course. You can work at your own pace.

A yoga mat is not comfortable enough for the client and also too hard on your ankles, as you found out. Try to find something thicker and softer. Later in the course there is a video which talks about choosing the best mat for Thai Massage. If you work on a thin yoga mat, you will get several reactions from practice partners or clients that it is uncomfortable or even painful for them.

I am glad to hear that you have help from someone. If that makes the posting easier for you - great! Smile

You missed my question in my previous post where I asked which country you are from. I'd love to know that.

Module-3 :- Sir shama Kern I wish you a very happy and Healthy Life. Sir Iam Form Sri Lanka. I Do Apologize Since I Could Not Send Module-3 Forum Text On Time.

MY Experience:-  I Got An Opportunity to test the above mention matter with one of the obese person called Isuru, his feet are quite large, then it was easy to do therapy for me. when i do the same therapy to my girl friend in next day, it was impossible matter since her feet are quite small. I felt i didn't do anything, but she was happy with the therapy. I could not do successfully curcular foot bending and twisting technique in the above both situation, it was difficult comparatively to other techniques but most of the people who i practice say that therapy is quiet good it seems.

Client Feedback

Isuru shanika:- Its being a great therapy, which led muscles to be relaxed and comfortable. touches and the techniques of the therapy is outstanding it stretched relaxed muscles and give life to the fed up legs.

Don't worry about not being on time with your modules - there is no fixed time. You can work with the course whenever you have time to do so.

So you are from Sri Lanka. I spent a month in Kandy a few years ago - very nice.

I think Thai Massage is not much known in Sri Lanka, so you will be a pioneer! Smile

It seems that you are getting positive feedback from your partners. This will only get better and better, I am sure, the more you learn.

Module-5:-

My Experience:-  It was hard test sine mainly because lake of my flexibility while giving therapy. i would like to have some advice from sir shama kern , on how to give the therapy more softly. it means i need advice on how to identify the pressure that i should put on the client with out giving them a hard time. my client got some painful touches mainly because of my thumb was so aggressive and more presser. i would like to get your advice to get the correct soft touches on the client

client feedback

Isuru shanika :- massage helps to relax the muscles it should be given more softly rather the therapist using his thumb more aggressively. thumb should be used more softly with out putting big effort within the muscle

There will be lots of information in this course about working softly and not causing pain. There is so much about this that I can't fit it in this post, but you will get to it soon. I talk about this in many course modules. There are also specific methods for finding out how far you can go with a stretch or pressure - the 'one-to-ten method'.

One big thing is that you should never work with muscle pressure alone. That will almost always be painful. Pressure should come from body weight. Again, this is something which I repeat over and over in this course. You won't be able to miss it. 🙂

In general it is better to work softly until you develop the sensitivity to do stronger work. One thing which you can do is to just think "softness" in your mind while working. I also mention this throughout the course.

Module-6 :- Firstly I want to thank you for the module 5 reply, and i think now i know how to touch softly, because i tried that session many more times, that s help me calm down my mind while i am doing therapy. firstly i am doing module 6 session it is also hard to get my mind  calm. i think that is  because im not doing meditation [ could you tell me about how to connect meditation and thai massage. and i also want to know are you doing meditation and how to do meditation, please   help me sir shama keran ]. that is my experience

Client Feedback

Isuru shanika :- For the left leg it has given a massage from the elbow bone where it incurred some what high effort which made a pain, however it has being rectified with more of soft thouch through. elbow bone massage given for the foot was excellent . it was a successful massage. techniques of the therapist has being improved significantly.

when the therapist came for the massage for the right leg therapist improved his techniques more significantly. touches form the therapist is more comfortable and it made to feel a real quality of the massage where as a receiver i felt much more relax and even i felt sleepy with much relax. it is pleasure to say therapist has improved significantly.

It sure sounds like you are making good progress and improving the way you work.

Regarding the meditation and Thai Massage - there will be quite a few explanations about that in this course, like focusing on your hara, working with your breath and your whole body. All these things help to develop a more meditative feeling.

Actually there is an entire course about this - it's the bonus course "Magic Touch Secrets". You will get that after you complete this course. There are many tips how to work in a meditative way in there. But by then you will have developed a more meditative way of working already, to some degree.

The thing is that while you are busy learning the techniques, remembering what comes next, figuring out where exactly to put your hands and feet, and how strong the pressure needs to be, it is quite difficult to get into a meditative frame of mind. When you get to the point where you know the techniques so well that you don't have to think about them anymore, then it is much easier to get into a meditative state. So you will need to be a little patient with yourself! Smile

Try to visualize massaging a baby or a puppy dog. That will give you the feeling of working softly. Then apply this feeling to your adult clients. Of course you press harder on adults, but you can still have this feeling of softness in your mind like a mantra. Softness is not so much about how hard your press, but it is a quality of touch, both hard and gentle.

Client Feedback

Mr Ali: Today we did the therapy for the calf muscles and losening of hip joint. the calf muscles felt really relaxced when its being massaged. where as the hip joints were streched to the maximum while that was done, the knee felt really good when it was shaken and massaged. over all as usually i felt like going to sleep when these therapy is done.

Happy New Year to you too. It is important for Thai Massage that the therapist is relaxed and reasonably flexible. So some exercises or a little yoga will help a lot with this. There is a video in the support section of this course where I talk about this. You should have received it right after you got module 8 of this course.

The breathing is only for the therapist. The client doesn't do any special breathing. There are many areas in this course where I show how to breathe with the movements. This doesn't work for all techniques, but for quite a few. The breathing helps to make you more relaxed and at ease, and it helps the techniques to flow better and feel better. The breathing helps you to focus and be more aware.

There are more sections coming up in the course where I go more into detail about this. Don't make the breathing strong or artificial, just breathe naturally with the movements in a relaxed way. It's more about an awareness of the breath than about a certain way of breathing.

In the early stages you have to be patient with yourself. While you are learning all the techniques, it is not so easy to be totally relaxed like in a meditation. This will come when you don't have to think about the techniques anymore. So don't expect too much from yourself in the beginning. Nobody becomes a master in a few weeks. Smile

My Experience:- thank you for you're advice sir its  very help full for me to understand how to become a master, i need to be more patient. how ever when im doing this session its very hard to calculate my presser because i didnt apply more presser, but my friend said it is pain full, i dont now what cause that. i need to know how to apply presser with my palm because i think im doing that wrong, thats why my friend got some bad pain, i applied presser with my wrist area thats area have my wrist bone i think that is the problem, but i watch your videos again and again but you also applied presser with wrist area,  could you help me get clear about palm pressing,

Client Feedback

Mr Ali: during this session i did felt a bit of pain during certain stages and when said he was able to reduce the pressure applied and was ok, i feel when he applies presser with his right hand it seems comparatively more than the his left hand, and its just my opinion only.

If pressure is painful, it has generally two reasons;

1. You are just pressing too hard

2. You are pressing with muscle power instead of leaning in with body weight. That's the whole secret - DO NOT PRESS WITH MUSCLE POWER. Lean in by softly sinking into the muscle or the stretch. Let your body's natural weight do the job for you instead of trying to press.

Think 'softness' in your mind, and imagine how you would touch a little puppy dog or a baby. You would not press on them, right? You would touch them gently and softly. You have to develop the same feeling in your Thai Massage. Of course you use more power than if you were touching a baby, but you need to develop this feeling of softness and gentleness in your mind.
