Regarding the pituitary gland - I am convinced that good head massage has many benefits. However when you are referring to the pituitary gland, I think you are referring to the seventh chakra. Opening chakras is not something that can be done with massage alone. It does take some serious work and dedication on the part of the person who wants it open him or herself via meditation or other yogic processes.

module#14 I think this was my favorite lesson! I will incorporate all six holding techniques in my work. I agree with Shama that the Energy work is just as important as the touch."Hara" Touch, breath,& intention all need to be present for true relaxation & healing. I am grateful I took this course & look forward to the next one.
I am so glad you can relate to module 14 since it kind of goes beyond what most people consider "massage therapy". For me it emphasizes elements that are often neglected in massage work but can totally change the quality of massage. And the head is the perfect place to do that on.

This is very helpful! I didnt think of it that way.. Love the Chakras!
The hara is in the same neighborhood as the second chakra. It is right behind the naval. However the concept of the hara is different from the chakras. The hara is our main energy reservoir which is located right in the center of our physical and energetic body. It does not reflect all the characteristics of the second chakra. Each chakra has a different location and different qualities or properties.
The hara is one energy reservoir from which all parts of the body draw their energy. If it gets depleted through lack of good healthy food, lack of sunshine, lack of exercise, lack of internal focus, lack of proper breathing, lack of congruity or integrity etc., then the energy of the entire physical and energetic system suffers. Focusing on the hara during massage means we draw energy from our core, from the actual center and origin of all our energy.
