Module 2

Practicing the Chi Machine on my partner was fun and relaxing as the giver.  I like that the upper body moves along with my massaging it almost reminds me of dancing I love that movement is incorporated in this practice.  

My partner felt the chi machine experience all through her spine.  She said her whole body felt warm and she felt a tingling sensation inside her body.  A lot of tension was released from her neck and she really felt more relaxed.

When I was done and placed her feet down on the the mat for a few seconds she said the tingling continued to run throughout her body.

Module 3

Foot massaging

My partner really felt all the muscles on the side of her legs from the foot to the hip joint being relaxed and released from tension during the flex and pull part of the foot massage. 

When shaking her legs she felt parts of her body relax that have never been relaxed.

Module 4

My partner felt very relaxed and was relieved from a lot of tension in her feet.

 

I liked using my upper body to add to the pressure point of the hands going up and down the foot rocking side to side and forward and back really made me feel calm and relaxed and never felt like hard work.  I really like knowing I can feel like this when doing thai yoga massage.

Module 1

I liked the analogy of making music and the flowing art of thai yoga.

Kneeling on the balls of my feet is very straining to my knees I am not sure if I can get used to that but I will continue to use a pillow between my knees which alleviates the stress.

I like that the technique of thai yoga is done gracefully as oppose to mecahnically.

The use of the body weight and the breath is very helpful and alleviates stress on the hands and arms.

Module 5

For my partner the butterfly pressure felt good.

Moving my body and legs to feel comfortable and not stressful was challenging. I had to play around with different posture movements that felt right and worked well with the applied pressure to the legs.

Module 6

My partner thigh muscle was tender and not use to getting touched or massaged on so it was very tender and a bit painful with the pressure I was doing so I pressed my weight a little lighter when working on the thigh. 

Partner was so relaxed she fell asleep and volunteered to work with me again.

Practice partners or clients falling asleep is always a sign that you are doing it right. 

The various positions and the knees and feet in Thai Massage practice are challenging for most in the beginning. However so far pretty much everyone got used to them after a while. It engages us in a way which we are not used to and have never done.

Interestingly enough, the same thing happens to the clients. They experience many of the Thai Massage techniques as something which they have never felt. It activates areas and releases areas which have never been worked before in such a way.

Thai Massage is something quite different for both therapists and clients! That’s what makes it unique and interesting. Also with really good Thai Massage you will never have to worry about serious competition.

Module 7

 

Partner enjoyed bodywork. She said she felt more relaxed. I felt I could have soften underneath the knee more to loosen up the stiffness I was feeling

Module 8

 

My partner just loved the calf massages she said that felt really good inside her body made her feel more relaxed.

Leg circles felt really nice to her too.

 

I really liked working on the calf muscle because its often very tight on people and this is a great working movement to apply and get good results.

 

Often when I get leg circles done to me from my thai yoga therapist it really brings me into a very calm state so I know what it feels like giving it to my client and was pleased she enjoyed it.  That gave me the confidence to let me know I was doing it correctly.

Module 9

Today I had my mom she is 78 years old very healthy but her body is pretty stiff she just started to do morning stretches first thing in the morning on a regular basis. I could feel the difference in the looseness of her legs and knew she must have been doing something because the first time I worked on her the body  she was very stiff especially the legs.

 

Mom really enjoyed how good it felt underneath her thigh she said it was sore there and it was less pain in that area when the training was over. She too thought she would be stiffer and was very surprise on her flexible ability.

 

Her thighs felt more relaxed and she got up from the floor much more easier than she usually does and she notice she was not out of breath when rising off the mattress.  I was really happy to hear about that talk about quick improvement wow! She said it was relaxing and wanted to know what she was suppose to get out of a thai yoga bodywork I told her calmness and relaxation.

 

I notice that my hip rotators had a burning sensation in the muscle area when positioning the leg that holds the foot to the groin more so on my left. But I just got back to yoga and dance stretching a week ago so my body is a bit out of shape.

 

I really like that in thai yoga you use the body weight the leaning into the muscle from the body and keeping the elbows straight really is less straining then having the hands do all the bodywork.

I really love this healing art and I just want to make people feel good in their bodies.  I am so glad my mom will be a regular partner this is just going to make a big difference in her health just in the 45 minutes today it already has.  She is coming over tomorrow to help me with my practice.  I am so grateful I am able to do this for my mom and she is able to help me with my training. And so grateful  to have these online training available. Shama your the best!!

Thanks Sharon, I am really happy to hear that you are getting such good results – especially with your mom. That must feel really good – for both of you!

Module 11 was really fun. Nice to be able to put the foot and leg work together. My partner was a sun do yoga instructor who is allowing me to use some of her students for practice.  She said that my touch is nice and consistent and she said sometimes that does not happen for a lot massage therapist so I was very pleased with that comment. She was good at correcting me when I was massage at the ankle making aware that I was on the bone and to be careful not to massage that. 

She loved the chi machine it really relaxed her back and she felt a nice rush of energy thorough her body.

I moved with ease to each section my flow was very smooth and I did not feel exhausted as I sometime do when performing the bodywork.

Module 12

I worked on my mom today and she really enjoye the standing sandwich stretch so  I did that on her for a few minutes then she mentioned it again after we were done with our session and I did the standing sandwich stretch for her again. She said she just loved having her legs up in the air like that it felt really nice and the stretch on the back of her legs fellt really good.

Also she said the sideway swings with the legs felt amazing so I kept repeating it over for her really spoiling my mom.

I was way out of breath did not focus on my breath good this time and forgot to eat before the session so I was complete famished afteward almost feeling fainitsh from not having eaten so I have to make sure I do that before each practice. My manuvering was a bit awkward but it was nice to make my mom feel relaxed once again. She thinks I am a little to gentle and wanted to know if I was being that way for her age. I  said no I am suppose to go slow and flow not sure if that is what is her way of saying I am too gentle.

Module 13

Still working with my mom. Really focused on having the one knee up and giving mom a nice stretch she was stiff so I did some circle motions and some shakes to help her body get more relaxed and loose and it did just that. I did not really focus on the scooping method because my mom had on spandex leggins that were very slippery and I could not get a good pressure my hands kept sliding.  I have to tell my clients to wear cotton leggings because it makes a big difference on my performance on the body. 

I did not do the hip pie on my mom I thought she was way to stiff for that pose so I just put her in tree pose and massaged her thigh with my elbow. 

I was really exhausted after this session because I was not breathing good and I had not eatilng so afterward I was completely famished and felt almost faintish. I must make sure I eat before a session.

Module 14

Rocking hips felt really good to Mom she said she felt like a baby being rocked to sleep and was ready for a nap after the session was over.  The best part for her was rocking the hips from sided to side.  She wasn’t a big fan of the rocking underneath the back she said it felt ok.  She loves it at the end of the session when I shake out her legs she said it feels so good. I was really sweating a lot feeling like I am not flowing right because I do not want to feel taxed from this profession but I want to feel like how you look in the video smooth, relaxed and flowiy.  I need to practice practice practice to get to that point.

 

P.S.

I worked on massaging my fiance’s driving leg he has a long commute it was his first massage ever and he was just amazed at how wonderful it felt he had no idea massage could be so relaxing. I did his feet and his calves and his upper thighs and even did his hands because I love getting my hands massaged out of all my body parts and he really enjoyed it. I was so happy now I will do that for him every night he so deserves.

True, slippery spandex material is not good for Thai Massage sessions. I always keep a pair of loose comfortable cotton pants around for those clients who show up in not so suitable clothing. Such massage pants are readily available here in Thailand and very cheap.

Take care of yourself first. Being hungry is not helpful and can easily be prevented. You should never feel exhausted after a session. Make sure that you are working with body weight as much as possible and not with muscle power. Focus on working with your entire body. If you mostly work with your arms, it will tire you. Also the breath awareness helps to put you in a better state.

Aside from this issue, I am glad to hear that you got such good feedback! Keep spoiling your mom! If she wants more pressure, you can increase it, but don’t increase your speed. It is better to work slow and deep than fast and deep.

Module 15

Hi Shama its been awhile but I am back  its been a real struggle getting people to comitt and train on. But I have a few people who are willing to give me some time

This module focused on the chest area I did my yoga mentor and teacher. She really liked getting the chest area done saying many massage therapist shy away from this area but it is quite relaixing and opens up the heart chakra.  I was a little bit heasitant to do the around the breast area but my partner was very comfortable so we go through it and she enjoyed the experienced she said I had a nice even touch to to my massage and it never changed.  That was really a great compliment.  Well its great to be back I hope I have a steady flow of partners so I can finished all my modules quickly and get certified.  Thanks for your patience and allowing us to this at our own pace.

In my experience the therapists are generally much more worried about touching the chest than the clients. The clients enjoy it!
