If there is burning around the achilles tendon, then I would use some warming Thai foot/leg massage techniques specifically on this area. Don't do stretches if they generate a burning sensation as this can cause injury. First focus on warming techniques, and if the burning subsides you can continue to stretches.

Regarding turning clients over, this depends on how much space you have. Let's say you work on a table. In this case you have to ask your client to do ALL the turning over.

If you work on a narrow mat, you will still have to ask the client to turn over from prone to supine or from supine to prone. You can move them from supine to side position without asking them to do it.

If you have a large mat, then you can do all the turning over yourself without requiring the client's participation. Watch this video to see how it's done:

Module 21

Having already done the routine on the legs in the supine position prepared me well for this routine in the prone.....it feels logical.I am getting the power of softness which is good.

The rocking knee on the tibialis anterior does not feel too comfortable for my toes as yet.

Module 22

Had a big partner and had to adapt. I am grateful that you taught me the options at my disposal in dealing with different body types.

The heel to the side of the buttocks felt very strong. I have had a fair set of clients whose heels could touch their buttocks but it seemed like the end point. Now i can introduce them to this new one by the outside of the buttocks but it would be bad ergonomics on a table.

The table just doesn't allow you all the ergonomic advantages which the floor work offers. But you can just eliminate those moves which don't work well on a table and establish a repertoire of moves that DO work well on a table. That's a necessary compromise if you do Thai Massage on a table.

Module 23

I am doing the Sciatica course therefore, not all new to me now. I used the routine on a client today who said the numb feeling at the bottom lateral side of the little toe disappeared whilst working on the sacrum. I also tried working on my own sacrum and also felt something in my little toe. They said it felt good.

It seemed to have an immediate affect on the sciatic nerve. What do you think?

Makes sense since the sciatic nerve goes all the way into the feet and toes. Clearly what you did affected the sciatic nerve in a positive way.

Module 24

I tried the circling techniques on three clients and they enjoyed it. The technique is easy on the hands especially when done slowly. It s a good warming up move to prepare for deep work. The side ways movement however felt strange to me and will take some getting use to.

I know, it's a totally different feeling doing those movements. But after a while they will all feel totally natural.

Module 26

In response to your comment,I used my fist to Iron out the issues and it was not  uncomfortable.

I prefer the galloping style, Squeezing the neck with one hand and circling the trapezius is difficult to execute at this stage. My partner enjoyed these techniques on their back. I like these moves except the one with the thumbs because they are easy on my body.Good use of elbows and forearms.

I know, the squeezing and circling is a little tricky and requires more time to figure out.

So you are the "iron fist man" - just playing with words. Laugh I am sure you are doing it very well since you are getting good feedback.

Module 27

My partner enjoyed the shoulder stretch, in fact everything.I appreciate you reinforcing the importance of using the entire body because sometimes I forget and suffer as  result.Lifting under the scapula always feels good; I do this in my chair massage. I will try to adapt these techniques to chair massage in the future. You teach well and I had no difficulty performing this routine.

Talking about chair massage, I would love to make a course about Thai chair massage. My problem so far has been that there are no massage chairs in Thailand at all. As soon as I can somehow get a hold of one I will make such a course.

Would love to come visit.  You never know, I might show up one of these days! 🙂

I am planning to make a video with very useful exercises for Thai Massage therapists for better flexibility and balance. That should be ready in a month or so.

Module 28

I always look forward to the summaries where we learn to linked techniques gracefully. I would like you to show us a summary of a complete Thai Massage that lasts 1 hr.

Module 29

These techniques were manageable . My partner enjoyed the sitting on the hamstrings . I also did it on a sciatica client but found it a bit too much which was no surprise . I just wanted to carefully experiment.

Module 30

Useful back massage for pregnant women. Easy to execute. The push pull back stretch is taking some time to perfect. Some good " bow stretches"

last shoulder technique is difficult  I am not getting enough power. I am going to adapt most of these moves for the table . My partner enjoy the shoulder rotations.

The trick with this one is all in the positioning and the pivoting. The further back behind the head you move, the more power you get. Once you get the position and the pivoting right, it is very easy to get tremendous power out of this move. Also a lot of the power in the technique comes out of the leg which drives your hand forward. And that again comes from the pivoting.

Of course the leg support won't work on a table. Try bracing your arm against your body instead.
