Welcome back Monica! Yes, it makes perfect sense. Actually sometimes it is useful to get a bad massage because then you know exactly what you should never do and what you should do instead. I have learned quite a bit from people "pressing on the wrong spot".

The more you learn about Thai Massage, the harder it will be to find someone to do it on you. I have the same problem! That's something we have to live with.

ahhahah!!!oh nooooo!really?same problem?one reason why I want to come to Thailand is cause I want to spend the whole period getting massages  cause they can "poke" you  in the right spots!!!or somebody that can make you don t think about what technique they are using on that moment on you but give you the perfect stroke you need in the right spot..cause most of the time when I receive a massage I m studing what are they doing..and  I did not find that one that just make me stop to thinking about why are you doing that stroke..don t you see I need more of this? something like that...Cool..I know..i m a pain!Laugh

well talking about the second video I disagree on small people don t need powerful tools...I found really small ladies that I sweat for get as deep I can be...and when I was done they were..just fine!YellYelllike..they need more!..and I am at the same way too! people in America see me tiny and..when I do massages they doubt I can go deep...but at the end of the session they cry... in the good way ...and if I go for a massage...they don t dare use elbows on me cause they think I don t need it!Confusedi always push my client at the limit of their range of motion.

Also the elbow that you use on the deltoid or pecs...YES YES YES!I  did not think about the other hand that can help push whit the elbow! gonna do that.

question on the push and pull with the leg under...if the tricep is tight are they gonna feel discomfort doing that..or kind of..too much pulling?

I looooove the squeeze and rollup..and even more effective the pull and roll back! and when I say that I mean it for myself!!!LaughLaughLaugh

That's definitely a good reason to come to Thailand, just getting lots of massages without breaking the bank. However I can tell you they will also poke you in lots of wrong places. Just because you are in Thailand doesn't mean that you will get only good massages. Actually the majority of them will be mediocre to sub standard.

That's because massage here is a big tourist attraction, and thousands of Thai women jump into the fold to make some quick and easy bucks off the tourists without much training or qualification. However the good thing is that you can find a couple of good ones and then indulge.

And yes, there are certainly small women who can take and appreciate lots of power, and here in Thailand there are lots of small female therapists who can make big men cry - although that should not be your goal haha. Laugh

You should always err on the light side if in doubt. Just use the one-to-ten questioning system to find out how far you can go with a move, or if you don't go far enough.

i ve been using the triangle stretch way bach since i wAs at school and the saw a thai massage video!i loved since the beginning and i still do it!!this one it s easy to do on the table as well...and all these techniques are sooo good !!!!

push and pull with the foot!very goooood to receive it and not so bad to do it,.

i like the block with the middle finger on the hand...love it, i feel me like a phisical therapist! CUse at the same time it s improving the range of motion, right?all the shaking is GREAT!also for the over 75 years old!!!sometimes i just ask my hubby to grab my pinky and shake it ask strong as he can so my whole arm shake and i can feel my nerve stretching and i feel better right away

Yes, shaking and rocking can be great for older people who have stiffened up over a life time and may not be able to handle intense stretching.

I agree, Thai Massage has quite a few similarities with physical therapists. There have been quite a few of them who have taken our courses and found them very useful and complementary to their work.

the thing that clients love on my massages are that i make them do stretches and then i rock them rub them right away and then i do another stretch...kind of relax them after the stretch and work out again..so result not only realxing..and not only phisical therapy!

ok..module n 4...shoulder is more intence than heavenly head unit

i love the rocking with one hand on the scapula...sometimes i was using before watching the video just to relax the muscles..did you ever use the tool called : "bongers"

It s for taponament i use it sometimes at the beginning or at the end on the shoulders..or whole body..very powerfull

i always forgot to use the both hands!i don t know why i like to burn out myself!

also grasping under scapula..i use to do that..i think i get it on me..it s kind like doing the bread and working with the dough!!

all the arm stretches are super strong and good for the PECS!that are srugging foraward!

do you think the collapse of the shoulder come from overstretch of the shoulder of tight pecs...cause if you stretch the pecs the back looks more straight

again...i wish i can receive this tipe of massage!

The shoulder course is definitely more intense than the HHM course.

I am not familiar with bongers. The only tool which I sometimes use is an infrared "massage hammer".

I think the collapse of the shoulders comes from less active life styles and sitting too much. Like they say "if you don't use it you lose it" (talking about muscle tone).

Yes, I would also like to get this type of massage! Smile

western massage use side position only for pregnancy!!!!

i use it all the time i have to work on neck and shoulder blades or under armpit!

the shoulder circles are veeeeery relaxing!you can really feel you can go in all the muscles inside the shoulder that are hard to reach!

all these movement kind follow to put the collapse position of the pecs BACK!

when i do rotation of the shoulder always reach for a natural "pap" of the shoulders.do you do also for people that have bone on bone shoulders problem?

i already sais that looks like phisical therapy but also some of the orthopedic techniques,i think thai comes first right?!

i preatty much can do all this on the table cool cool cool

Thai Massage includes elements from massage, yoga, physical therapy, chiropractic and others. Or you could say that all these modalities include elements from Thai Massage. Or that there is a blending going on. Doesn't matter how we label it, Thai Massage is extremely versatile.

Bone on bone shoulder issues: You can either just go easy on them, or skip certain techniques in favor of pressure or rocking techniques. There are so many techniques available that you will always find something suitable for your clients. You don't have to use all the techniques on everyone.

These techniques are really strong,i like them..and belive it or not...when i did my whole thai massage course i naturally was doing these techniques just using the rocking to get till the end of my client range of motion...i guess it comes naturally when you get the mechanism,

these techniques are excellent for pain under scPula, armpit poor posture..all the rotator cuff injury.

i got a massage yesterday and still don t have the work done i was hoping to get..or again..i got done on my some of these techniques but there was not..make it nice at the end of an intence stretch...

it s also easy to get as far as the arm can go..less easy for some clients to relax..

Nice module!

like i said...i normally try to do the techniques on bed...but the two pillow between neck and forhead is great!.

ok besically i do really thai massage just on my hubby..cause my hand are tired when i get home so with him i can use my feet and just do a rocking hr massage..push and pull with the foot and arm is soooooo great easy and effective.

massaging with feet..just look.."dirty".. So it s not so easy to propose to clients...also you need to use socks for the demostration..so that is why only on family member it s not " strange"...even ashiatsu is not so popular but soooo effective,anyway..coming back to the techniquesi like the lean and roll on the...teres minor.there are painful trigger points and bones over there.

well i found these techniques easy to do and remeber!yayi even sleep with the pillow under armpit!when i m in pain...

Here in Thailand the massage therapists are always using their feet (without socks) and nobody considers that "dirty". And they certainly never ask for permission to use their feet - they just do it.

Personally I have used my feet countless times in my sessions, and nobody ever mentioned anything or complained about my use of feet. And I am not just talking about working in Thailand. I have done countless sessions in the western world which included me using my feet without ever getting negative feedback.

So I think that this is an issue which is mostly in your own mind, and you are projecting it onto your clients. In that case, because you are insecure about working with your feet, your clients will feel strange about it as well.

As soon as you change your attitude about working with your feet, your clients won't feel strange about it anymore either. Of course it helps if you wash your feet sometimes! LaughLaughWink

very good point...the knees..you don t get tired!

now i remember while i was doing muay thai why is it called the art of the 8 limbs..i guess you can apply for massage as well!cause you are literally using them!

i found effective the pillow under armpit while facing up...cause it gives that stability and resistance you need to press on it.

do you think i can sleep as well like that?Laugh

Sometimes a prop can make quite a difference in a technique. It is very useful to have several size pillows around which you can use to adjust positions.

again...communication is very important..and sometimes I know I got pretty strong techniques so i try to tell my clients to tell me if it's too strong or uncomfortable..but some say ok..and at the end of the session they recognized that was too deep...well i guess with some people you cannot do the right thing cause kind of...they don't understand anyway..or their mind is so...not "changeable" ever happened to you? how do you deal with?

...omg! your routine is excellent! I'm dreaming about the good feeling i'll have just watching the strokes!

by watching i can feel how everything flow and work together!s

Definitely have to watch this video over and over again!

The speed is good and all the push and pull feels so..wow,my upper trap loooove it, really wish i can have it done on me i would do an hr massage!being THE client!

I use my one-to-ten questioning method frequently. Aside from that I think it is better to err on the light side than being too strong.
