Hello. I am new to this community and would like to introduce myself. My name is Meejoo Hwang and I have been living in Seoul, South Korea for almost 12 years. I was born in Seoul but moved to the US when I was a year old. I have been moving back and forth from Korea to California during my childhood, moved back to California from Korea when I entered 4th grade. Then at the age of 21, my family and I moved back to Korea to be near my extended family. I have been teaching English to students of all ages (kindergarten to adults), but in college, I first majored in physical therapy. However, my parents wanted me to switch my major to education. I wasn’t happy with the change, but felt it was the right thing to do at the time. As a teacher I have learned a great deal about myself, and gained invaluable experience as a teacher. I want to pursue my dream again in becoming a physical therapist. I would like to start by obtaining my degree to become a physical therapist assistant. I plan to be certified in yoga and also in massage. However, it is hard to set aside time to attend school, and I am also getting married in 5 months. I have endured many injuries during my lifetime, and I feel empathy for people who show any visible evidence of it, such as being in a cast, using crutches to walk, or being in a wheelchair. I know what it’s like to be physically exhausted and stiff from stress. I want to help people heal in this area, and find healing for myself as well. Here are the answers to the following questions:
- Your massage and/or yoga experience (if any): I do not have any experience in massage, but I would like to start learning now. I practice yoga at home from time to time (I’m trying to make this a routine as much as possible as I am taking ballet classes)
- What you do for a living: I am an ESL teacher in Seoul, South Korea. After getting married, my husband and I are planning our return to the US (we are aiming for California) and I hope I can pursue my physical therapist career there.
- In which country and state you are living: As mentioned earlier, I live in Seoul, South Korea.
- What your native language is (if not English): My native language is English
I hope I am qualified for the international certification (the one that’s free of charge). I am ready to learn and I look forward to hearing from you. I hope you are having an amazing day! I am considering going to Thailand for my honeymoon!! 😀
Hi Meejoo, welcome to our community, and thanks for your detailed introduction.
I saw your certification registration for the Complete Thai Massage training course, however when I tried to find you in our database, nothing came up under your email or your name. Did you actually enroll in the Complete Thai Massage course, and if so, under which name and email address, and when?
Just to make sure we are on the same page with this: Once you purchase the Complete Thai Massage online training course, we do not charge for the certification program. But the actual training program is not free.
We have a free introductory Thai Massage video series, but there is no certification for that.
I am looking forward to your response.
