Module #1

It was helpful to connect with my partner & feel what he needed, starting with my breath, then asking for guidance in a small prayer, along with blessings of my energy, his energy & our space. Now that I was in the right mindset, it was easier for me to relax and access my natural body rhythm/ ergonomics.

Module #2

I first tried the chi machine on myself to feel the snake-like flow. It came pretty naturally to me, and I felt ready to try it with my partner. He is much bigger than me, but It was easy to move the energy to his head with the same effort. I need to work up to 3 minutes, but I got a solid minute for starts & he said it felt great!

Module #3

When working on my partner, I found myself trying to muscle through the movement until I found my rhythm. It was not as fluid as I would have liked it to be from one technique to another, but my partner said it still felt great. It was enjoyable to work on the feet & it helped my partner's body relax!

By the way, even if you do the Chi Machine for just one minute, this can be perfectly fine to achieve the desired result. 3 minutes can get a little hard on your knees, so don't focus on increasing the time unless it feels easy on your own body.

It is perfectly normal that the fluidity in the techniques is missing initially, but this will naturally develop over time. Smile

Module #4 

 

From working on the ankles and feet with two different people, I noticed how the pressure I apply with the palm presses via. internal rotation had to be modified to meet each of their needs. My partner felt it in his back when applied too much bodyweight versus my client that had high arches could take all of my body weight. I used the chi machine with one leg at a time too and noticed it relived much-holding tension in the lower body.

It was so much fun kneading the legs! The flow was comfortable for my hands & body positioning. My partner said it felt great. I forgot to do the foot hook for the outer leg but I am excited to try it next time.

This was my first time using my forearms so it felt a bit akward on the first leg. But it was easy to work with my body mechanics and opposing arm to get the right pressure by the second side. I noticed I felt tight in my own hips & my back needs to build up endurance in that seated position.

The forearm work will turn out to be a blessing. It will make it all so much easier on you and more effective for the client.

Thai Massage can be really helpful for yourself by loosening up your own body. The clients benefit and the therapist as well.

The elephant walk was a great way to describe the motion that felt best when opening the hips. I noticed a difference from the initial start to after repeating the walk in a gentle rhythm. I can't confirm I have the elephant walk truly mastered until I ride one! lol

"I can't confirm I have the elephant walk truly mastered until I ride one! lol."  -  You could always go to Thailand to get the feeling for the elephant walk. There are lots of elephant rides offered there. Laugh

But I suspect you will figure it out even without an actual elephant. Laugh

It was helpful to look at the direction of the feet while my partner was lying supine to determine the imbalances. It even got me to evaluate my own hips! The different positions of the hip stretches were valuable to my partner's tight glutes & the shimmy on the quad felt very restorative in the mix of the "hip pie."

Module #9 

The glutes became a focal point when I put my partner's leg in knee flexion with my knee resting on the hamstring. It was much easier using my body weight rather than my arms like I've built a habit of doing with my clients for a glute stretch. The supine twist was also really beneficial to the glutes, I liked the hand position on the lumbar spine to get a little bit deeper into those sweet spots of the spine/hips/glutes.
