Module 1

Im really excited to start this module because a lot of clients have shoulder issues. Some of the techniques Im already familiar from the complete Thai course, which is the first few techniques with both arms working simultaneously on the shoulders. My mother loves the rocking techniques because it relaxes her. What’s new tfor me is working with one arm and at a 45 degree angle. At first, executing the moves at 45 degrees was a little awkward but I quickly adjusted. The one technique that felt uncomfortable to my mom - at first - was the palm circle. After reviewing the video, i learned that I was pressing too hard and Shama suggested being gentle.

module 2

module 2 was really great. Shama covers a lot of techniques in this one. I really like the first two techniques: shoulder circle and shoulder rotation. My mom loves it as well. The only thing that felt uncomfortable for me is that my glutes started to feel a little uncomfortable from my moms shoulder laying on my lap. I don’t know if it’s having tight hip or glutes or I was sitting incorrectly. However, the  One techniques that I  like from this position is massaging the upper arm with my forearm at different angles, and it was very relaxing for my mom as well. The last two techniques were easy to execute; however, my mothers shoulder has good range of motion, so it wasn’t easy to feel restrictions in the arm. To conclude, after I was done, my mom wanted to fall asleep

Hi James, good to see you back in the forum in another course. 2 modules in the shoulder course are also in the Complete Thai Massage course, but aside from that, there is lots of new material.

Module 3

First, I love the alternative to the arm traction/ pull technique.I live in the Deep South of the US and there’s a higher percentage of overweight clients so, Moving closer and pulling the arm from upper part of the arm  is definitely better for heavier clients. Another technique I kind of struggle with was the arm swinging shoulder massage that I learned from a previous course. In this module, shama shows you how to troubleshoot by rotating the arm with swing and swinging the arm in mid air . I tried this out on my mom and I was able to get her to relax her arm while I was swinging it.

Module 4

My mother loved the techniques in the prone position. Before, I practicing the techniques, I thought my ,other would find some of the techniques uncomfortable, like the shoulder downward stretch. The prone shoulder backward stretch was kind of challenging for me to get comfortable in the right position but I think this is due to have tight hips.

You are moving along at a good clip with the shoulder work, it seems. Are you done with your massage school training program already by now?

Module 5

this module is a good refresher on what I learned in Complete Thai course. The technique I used to have trouble with was the arm circling shoulder stretch, which I learned it in the other course. Now, I know the threshold of pain when I execute this move. My mother didn’t like it at first but loves it now because I know her limits.  I agree with shama, the shoulder moves in the side position are the best and are easier to do as well.

Hey shama, yesterday, was my last class. I still have ten hours of clinical left, which I should complete  in January. After I receive my transcripts, I will take the mblex  test in February.

Module 6

its been a while since I’ve been in the forum. I’ve been busy with school, getting my state & business license, and building my business straight out of school. Whoever is reading this, let me inform you that  my clients LOVE Thai massage.. Everything I learned was from Shama. I can vouch for his online school because the feedback I’m receiving from my clients.  Anyways, the shoulder and scapula techniques are very effective . I use these in my sessions. I have a couple clients that don’t have a lot of range of motion so it’s hard to execute the first technique and the techniques at the end.. My clients love the arm rotation and scapula lift. I find that my bigger clients usually have stuck scapulas so it’s kind of hard to execute the scapula lift.
As I’ve learned ,some of the techniques is not suitable for my less flexible clients and that’s why you have to be adaptive- Shama teaches you just that.

module 7

In this module, Shama teaches you techniques that are for bigger clients. Yes, I’ve tried thes on my smaller clients and they felt it was too much. I’ve come across big clients that can’t handle a lot of pressure from these techniques. Usually, they’re really tight in they’re upper body and have kitties rsnge of motion. The techniques will take some practice to get the feeling. After a couple sessions, I can feel when I’m going too far.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I think that you are doing a great job, especially since you started without lots of experience. Now you have a massage practice and clients who love your Thai Massage work. That's really impressive!

Module 8

When I first tried to learn the first techniques in this module, It was kind of challenging. It was easy to apply pressure to the person I was practicing with because they were big, however, I struggled with finding the right balance. I haven’t used the technique in awhile because all my Thai massage clients are fit or small framed . Most of my big clients prefer table massage. The sandwich technique feels really good to some of my clients. I use that in my sessions with my clients that have a little more muscle. You have to be vigilant because you can apply too strong pressure. I communicate with the client until I find the sweet spot

That's where you have to get a bit creative - when you work on very different body types. It's definitely not a one-size-fits-all system. Smile
