Module 1

In this module you spoke about the techniques used which are techniques used in massage. You also spoke about the tools and then you got into therapist positions. Sitting on heels is not easy for me, I am having to practice this one. Half kneeling and full kneeling are not easy for me either. So, I will have to spend a lot of time on the positions.  The clients position is the same as a massage therapist clients. Breathing is always important when working with clients. Using the body weight instead of muscle pressure does make a difference. Learning about hara which is around the naval was new to me. Being able to free energy flow and development the touch. I also am making sure to pay attention to my posture along with using my entire body.

So, I will definitely be glad when I get the flow of how to do a complete Thai Massage.

Module 2

You spoke about having the right mindset and body posture. And we can’t forget breathing and having the right attitude. Well you have to have the right attitude in anything you do.  I have to work on making sure i’m straight and aligned at 90 degrees with my client. Also, i’m working on using my body weight not muscle power. As you said good ergonomics makes the massage easier for the therapist. I am trying to be relax while practicing these techniques. I also need more practice on rocking my hips left and right while focusing on the clients hips and make sure they are moving. These effects of chi machine will also have a tingling effect on the entire body and will give a rush of energy.

I have a lot to work on and I can’t wait until I’m comfortable with all I am learning.

Module 3- Foot Massage 1

Module 3 was about the foot and I know that when working on the foot it affects the whole body. So, I practice the alternating out of bending the feet using 1, 2, 3, 2, 1. I definitely need to practice more. I tried bending both feet in at the same time and bending both feet down at the same time. That wasn’t so bad. The circling foot bending and twisting technique took me a little to get the move correct. I need to always remember to use my body weight, the entire body for any move. The push-pull technique for foot and leg seem to work for me. Twisting the foot out one at a time was fine. I just meed to practice att these techniques over and over until I can make them smooth. Then I practiced shaking the foot up and down for relaxation.  The client was very patient with me while I practice. She could tell the thing I need to practice on and the ones that I seem to catch on to easily.

Module 4- Foot Massage 2

In this module we learned that conceptional learning is much more effective than mechanical learning. I had to learn how to unlock my elbows and straighten the elbows. I feel like Step #1 and #2 I had down. The #3 and #4 bending the foot up and down was alright once i got my rhythm. The twisting right and left seems to be work right. Working on top and bottom needs some practice.

I feel I need to practice every chance I get so that it is not awkward. I will learn through conceptional thinking and not just memorize. I going to work on focusing on sense of feeling and the quality of touch.

Module 5 – leg warm-up

The leg warm-up is all about warming up the leg to get ready to stretch. The part where I’m blocking the clients foot, but now with my foot I bend my knee down and it locks the clients leg down will take a lot more practice for me. And the part where you used your knee gently on her calf to stabilized her leg will need more practice and I definitely need to continue practice balancing and transferring from one leg to the other. My client was very patient with me trying the same thing over again trying to get a feel for how it should feel.  Again, I just need to keep practicing and with different size clients.

Hi Felicia, welcome to our community and the Complete Thai Massage certification program. You got a real jump start with your initial posts! Laugh

To make sure that everything is correctly organized, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our certification check list:

Certification Check List

I read your bio – in which country do you live? I assume it is the US because you registered for the CE certification, right?

Whom are you practicing on? Friends, family, or actual clients?

How did you become interested in Thai Massage? Did you have any previous experience with it?

Are you planning on using it as part of your existing massage, or do you want to practice it as a separate modality? Just trying to get to know your background a little so that I can relate to you better. Smile

US is where I am in Alabama. Yes I registered for Certification. I am practicing on friends and hopefully will be practicing on a friend that does Thai Yoga where I can get her feedback. I received a Thai yoga massage and it really helped me. Yea I am planning on using it in my existing practice.
