MODULES 1 & 2
About module 1, it was just a good reminder for me, as I practice ayurvedic massage on the ground for several years now. So I know how important is ergonomics to remain stable and relaxed. My first months of practice were sometimes quite horrible because of wrong posture...
Module 2, the chi machine... Well, I tought it would be easer than it is... In fact, the difficulty for me is not to do the right move... but to keep it right on a longer period of time. It's just like, after more or less half a minute or so, my fluidity went off. So I must begin the process again and again.
Fortunately, I really know that only one thing can give you the right technique : practice ! So, let's see in a few day if I will improve.

MODULE 3
First of all, I practiced the chi machine this time on my wife (I practiced it before on my 2 children), and I feel it much easier with heavier legs.
About module 3, I found it very interesting. Very smooth, and great to practice. When you use your body to initiate the moves, it's like a dance. I definitely love to work on the ground.
The only thing I have to be aware was that my wife had a slight knee pain when I press her feet outside in the beginning of the massage (more on the right side). And also a little bit of low back pain when I stretched the back of her feet (straightforward, with her feets outside of my legs).
My daughter loved it too, a great way to calm her down before bedtime.

Before you press the feet towards the outside, look at the angle of the feet in resting position. The natural angle should be at least 45 degrees or even less from the mat. This indicates a reasonably relaxed hip joint.
If however one or both feet have a rather steep angle, this means that there is a restriction in the hip joint which prevents the leg from rolling out easily. If that's the case, then pressing the foot out will twist and stress the knee joint.
So you can evaluate potential problems by looking at the angle of the feet. If the angle is too steep, then you have to be very careful with pressing the feet out. Either do it lighter, or eliminate it and work on loosening the hip up first via rocking techniques. That will be explained later in the course.
Thank you for these explanations... I think my wife is a particular case, because the angle of her feets is just ok. But she's a little bit stiff at the present moment, too much stress, and she has quite often joint pains...
Let's see next modules...

That's another thing which will be addressed a lot in this course - how to ask your clients the right questions so that you can really tune in what works for them and what doesn't. There is one entire module (#35) just devoted to this subject.
The other factor is that it is important to develop a good sense for the client's reactions, and when in doubt, immediately ask if it feels ok or not. Sometimes a facial expression will give us a clue, or a movement that compensates for what we are doing.
You're right Shama, always be aware of client's reactions... that makes a big difference...

MODULE 4
Well, I practiced a lot from module 2 to module 4, and I now feel the moves very well. They are flowing very smoothly, and I begin now to feel more the reactions of my "client".
I think it's now the right time to go to module 5...

Well, life is always the same... when you need time (to learn and to practice this course), you suddenly have plenty of things to do... so no thai massage practice during 2 weeks... but I'm right back on, I practiced a few hours yesterday, and a few hours today too.
Module 5
I really love these part. Very smooth, very soft, very pleasant to give. It seems very pleasant to receive too, both my children and my wife loved it !
I appreciate so much your videos, all is made to give the right reflex (to work correctly with the bodyweight, not with our muscles). I love this kind of "artistic flow", it's like dancing together with the client's body, feeling it, applying just the pression it needs, waiting for his feedback and going ahead to the next move when it's the right moment.
Module 6
I thought it will be a bit tough and painful to work with the forearm on my children and my wife (she's a bit skinny). But surprisingly, it wasn't ! They felt perfectly ok with all the moves.
I loved that work, it's so simple to work with these moves with very few energy. I love the sequences and the transitions, which are again perfectly explained and demonstrated. Thank you Shama for your great videos, you remind me my first ayurvedic professor, you're as precise and clear as he was, and you're also as calm as he was, it's relaxing and refreshing to learn with such a professor !
