Module #12   Hip Stretches

This is my partner's  (my fiance) favorite massage her. The Hips. She has so many issues with her hips. She like the version #1 of the Achilles Tendon stretch. But loved Version #2 of that stretch using 1-2-3-2-1 on her feet do to she works on her feet all day. So I can see this very beneficial for those on there feet all day. 1. Massage the arch with the 1-2-3-2-1 movement. 2. As you stretch the calf as you massage the Arch.

Version #4 of this she really loved the compression and traction of the hips. She said that felt very good. As i moved in closer to her and bent her knees she like the Knees apart as i lean down. She loves that stretch.

One of my questions i ask my clients is how to they sleep at night Back, Side or stomach? In which i try to get all my clients to sleep on there back. with a pillow under there knees to tilt the pelvic to take the pressure off L4 in the spine if have lower back pain. And to take pressure off there sciatic nerve that's coming out at that area.  She does sleep on her back with pillow under her knees but pulls her feet up under the pillow instead of straight down. I can see how the ball of her femur must be rotated or tilted in the hip joint with her sleeping this way for a long period of time without moving will cause any tear, stuffiness in the IT bands.??  Because bringing her feet up to the front of my legs and lean down she REALLY loves . All of those Elephant walk on knees for Sacrum massage, and Hip and Piriforms stretch, and Sandwich Stretch, she wanted me to NOT stop. Excellent session. Thank YOU

How great to have skills that make your fiancee happy and help with her problems.

If she is on her feet all day long, you might want to consider enrolling in our Thai Foot Massage course which has some really amazing techniques. She will be eternally grateful! Laugh

Module #14 Hip Rocking

   Hi Shama,

Nice module good way to help relax client. I'm a very short person and also had a very bad knee that pops in and out.Frown So I finding moveing over to transfer to other side or transferring to side of bad knee i have to put my hand down on mat to take pressure off that knee.

I'm finding that very helpful. If not i find myself taking my hands off client to make transfer. Seems to work pretty good that way and still keep at least one hand with contact.

Also using the Half back stretch with there leg bent and holding there knee down as you pull and lean back works for me best being a short person.

 Thanks again Shama

We all have to work within our capacity and limitations. Your Thai Massage doesn't have to be the exactly like I do it. It just has to feel good and be effective. If you have to support yourself with one hand while transitioning, that's no problem at all.

Unlike with Swedish massage, in Thai Massage we always have to adjust for size and weight of both ourselves and our clients. That means it needs to be creative and intuitive in order to work best. Apparently that's just what you are doing! Smile

Module #15 Abdomen ans Chest

I like the way you do the abdomen and chest area. I work my normal western massage basically the same way on the abdominal area as you do. Moving my hands clockwise. A very effective way if the person is constipated. I have worked on nurses the work in nursing homes and showed them this move on the abdominal area and it will help break up there patience constipation in stead of laxative.

I like the concept of the Abdominal area as the center or where people hold there emotions in this area. In my Reiki work i do this is your Root Chakra and yes i look at your Root Chakra the root of you and where you came from, how you were raised family issues.

Love the Elephant Walk on Shoulders; Very relaxing.

Thanks ShamaSmile

Module #16 Shoulder

I like Tec: "One side one Hand Shoulder lift" (sliding) Very good tec. you can see how it really id a good massage on the shoulder at the same time as you lean back you get contraction on the neck as you lean back to left shoulder. I had a stiff neck over the weekend and had my fiancee do this to me fantastic on my shoulder and neck.

The two handed shoulder left (circling) was a nice way to finish massaging that area.

Arm triangle shoulder stretch was kind of uncomfortable for her wrist just not flexible to place on the floor palm down. So what should you do to help get the wrist more flexible??? She has very tight wrist.

Thanks

Module #17 Arms and Hands

Tec: Alternating circular Elephant Walking down arm, nice touch to the arm.  Love the Slide off palm tec. to finish off the Elephant walking down arms.

The Tec: Working the 3 lines on the arm top of arm and bottom of arm I'm going to arm to my western massage with oil very nice way to work the 3 sen lines.

I"m also part of a Wellness program for a very large cementing company here in Duncan Oklahoma. called Halliburton you may have heard of it International corp. Anyway i go in once a week in there nursing clinic and do chair massage as a stress management program. I do simular hand massage on them as they seat on the chair. I'm going to change my tec:  and add your tec: of Squeezing and bending palms together. And adding the Four Finger traction pull to finish off the hands in my chair massage.

A little in side stroy about me on why i started massage. Kind of funny thing back in 1999 i got laid-off from this company (Halliburton) for working with them for 25 years. I went to a massage weekend clinic here in my local town they were introducing there massage collage to get certified in massage. And what turned me on was there hand massage. It was AMAZING it brought tears to my eyes cares it felt so good. so to me a good hand is the best healing thing for the body. Especially for a MT that use there hands all day. and now here i am they called me back to there company to help there employees with stress. I call it a God calling for me.

Regarding the triangle stretch - you can place her hand closer to her shoulder which will reduce the angle in the wrist. You can also use several hand techniques to increase flexibility in the wrist. Some of those are in this course, and even more are in our Arm And Hand Massage course.

That's quite an interesting story about your involvement with Halliburton! Smile

module # 18 Transition/ spinal twist

   Thanks for the transition tips

: Should not be noticeable by client

:Should feel like a part of your flow

: Should feel comfortable to me and

I'm still practicing the transition from arm to arm. This will take some time to make  it flow nicely. I do like the Double arm traction when you stand up and pull up gently, I'm short and this is a nice way to give my back a nice way to stretch. I normally bend my knee as i massage at the table from being a Tai Chi instructor. So this is a nice for me.

Tec: Upper Spinal Twist version 2 liner stretch my partner said that was a nice and very pleasant.

Thank you Shama

Module #19 summary

I like how you keep reminding us to remember the

    "Anatomy of Thai Massage"

Enhance and change your Energy with your "Quantum Touch"

I went back to the first summary and sec. summary and i can see if your doing like a full body session on someone you can transition from what your showed moving from the lower extremities and flow up to the abdominal then to arms. Very nice flow. my favorite transition so far is the standing from one arm to the other. Nice break for the practitioner.

   Looking forward to more,

Thanks Shama

Module #20 PRONE LEG #1 WARM UP

Tec. using elbows on sole of feet. using this technique on the table. I use my fist or thumbs when on table now the elbow will save my hands. Nice move and my partner loved it.  Also the Traction and contraction of ankle, knee and hip she loved. very nice. She has some bone spurs off her achilles tendent using my index fingers and thumbs to make circles on that area she said was heaven.

Elephant walking on the back of the legs was good also. But never thought to add that little roll out on the calf muscle as your lean down. Nice touch on that part.

we do a lot of rocking in your Thai massage. In which the massage collage I attended we always started with a gentle touch on the back with a light rocking of the body. The reason of that 1. If new client trying to get the client relaxed with a new therapist. And rocking was a very nice way to say Hi, are you ready. 2. Rocking also mentally relaxes the mind and my bring them back to when they we a baby in the mothers arms and the rocking motion helped clam them down and put mind at rest. SO i will also be taking your rocking course to improve my Thai massage.

Thank you so much Shama

The Thai Rocking Massage is the perfect addition to the Complete Thai Massage course. I use rocking a lot, and couldn't do Thai Massage without it. It has been a big improvement to the results I can get since it adds something very flexible and intuitive and flowing. And most clients love it. Smile

module # 21 Prone leg 2

Thanks for input on taking Thai Rocking Massage. I will put it on my to do list after this course. Laugh

Tec: sliding under thigh will take some practice. I'm blessed with being short so pulling up at the knee will be my way to do this. And will take some practice to smooth this part out.  But once there i can see how effective it is working on the 3 sen lines.  And very effective to working on the glutes and hip area. The 1-2-3-2-1 are really being a mind set now and comes naturally with me. I also feel working the IT area is much easier from prone position.

Tec: Prone leg triangle Hip Stretch no Problem very easy to work at this position.

Tec: Working the on the Tibial Anterior with my knee area. My partner said that felt amazing and very easy to do this. Love using my knees to do my work.

Tec: Power version of Leg Triangle Hip stretch at 45' was also nice.

Thanks

Module #22 Prone Leg 3

Tec: Prone single leg heel to buttocks stretch, Question if i have a client that my have a bad knee and not flexible if i place a pillow between the heel and buttocks to do this stretch and press heel into pillow it seems work okay.?

Tec: Hip Flex /Quad stretch is my favorite way. seem to work best for me. I have been doing this stretch for a long time on my athletes but in a different way. I like your technique better.

Tec: Opposite Hip left in prone will have to work on this one. But i do like using my knee to work on glutes. The reaching over to opposite side and pulling back is a work out will have to work on this move.

Thanks Shama

Module #23 Sacrum and Glutes

In my reg. table massage i do a lot of Glute work. I normally lean in and knealing them. Don,t work on sacrum much. Know i have some good techniques to do so.

Tec: Circle the Sacrum with palms like this one.  With my partner i found this one to help relax them.

Tec: Thumb Rocking in the Groove. She didn't want  me to stop this one. Then on Tec: Thumbs wiggling on both sides of Sacrum she said. Don't STOP..

Again need more practice on transition over the body to other side. To smooth it out.

Still working on Tec: Knee rocking on Glutes, yes that one with take a lot of practice.

Thanks Shama

Regarding the heel-to-buttocks stretch: You could use a pillow, or you could just do it more gently. Personally I never used a pillow since you can easily turn this into a very gentle stretch by just not pushing down so much. If someone had a serious knee issue, I would avoid any stretches that could cause pain and instead work directly on the knee. However this is a more specialized therapy and is covered in our Thai Massage Knee Therapy course.

Module #24 Prone 1

I found it was very easy to work doing circles from shoulder to hip. Very nice and smooth Tec. Also switch ti the wiggling Tec.

My partner like this very much so. Now the Transition over to the other side is still a weak part for my because of my bad knees. But I'm finding a way to make the transition over the body smoother than at first.

Love Tec: Offset wiggle on far side, i use this tec. with oil to finish up a back massage with oil over the whole back. So this is a nice wrap up on the back

Thanks

There is lots of back material coming up now. Some of it can definitely also be used with oil massage.

Module # 25 Back 2

Nice way to work on the back. Glad to get into using other parts of my body that my hands. This is the #1 reason to take your Thai massage class was to use other parts of my body to massage with like Elbows and my Knees. Cause my hands and wrist are playing out for doing traditional oil massage.

Tec: Working with Elbow in Groove. This was an nice way to work Erectors muscles. My partner really sad it felt nice. She very short so this work nicely.

Knee Tec. #1 Gently rocking sideways. I was watching video thinking how I'm I going to do this n Far side of the body. Then notice OH.. he's doing this on the same side I'm on and works much nicer. I was to short plus my leg was on her spine, Not good.!

So knee work on lower back same side I'm on works Great.  Then Transition over work other side.

Thanks Shama
