Module 25

I really like the variety with these exercises. Learning the different steps from soft to hard. The technique for working the traps was brilliant. So simple! I knew what to look for when working the erecter muscles, so that came quite easy. Using the elbows on the lower back was the big winner. The partner really enjoyed the technique.

Module 26

Nice to have the option of not using the thumbs or wrists. And there were quite a few new techniques that are really useful. The forearm work went really well, my arms a little bigger so it helps applying the pressure. Even using the pillow to support the neck was a new idea for me. My partner has a bigger chest so that really helped is neck.

Module 27

Working the upper back was quite similar to the swedish massage work. A little more relaxed working on the floor. Of course the stretches are new, the shoulder stretch was a little intense for the partner, couldn't quite take his arm too high. Tried the cobra stretches; #1 and #2 were really good but the third was a bit too intense for him.

That's where my mantra comes in: The techniques are options to choose from, not mandatory sequences. Not many people can handle cobra #3 easily. Imagine if you would only know this one version - not good! Frown

Module 28

Followed up another nice summary video. These are nice to watch and follow along with the video. Of course have to pause a few times, still working on the speed and rhythm. But as long as I take my time the pressure is even, stretches are controlled.

Module 29

Side massage is a whole new experience for me. Didn't cover it much in Swedish massage. Quite a few interesting and new techniques for me. Sitting my but down on the inner thigh took a few tries. Luckily my partner is bigger, had some space to work with. We attempted to do the inner thigh stretch, but that one was a little intense.

Actually in Thai Massage you could theoretically do an entire session in the side position. In practice that's never done unless you work on a highly pregnant woman, and then you can really do most of the work in the side position (which is the only position a highly pregnant woman is comfortable in for a massage session).

However in this course I don't attempt to teach an entire Thai Massage session in the side position, just some useful techniques.

Module 30

Worked on the second half of the side massage. Nice to learn a few more techniques in this new(for me) position. Since my partner is a bigger fellow, lying on his side felt a little better. I agree that there are less techniques to preform, but can still get good pressure with what you can do. Of course the spinal twist seems to be a new favorite. Tried the rocking spinal twist, got the rhythm down, will have some work to do to get the speed down.

Module 31

Learned some really good shoulder techniques. Definitely need to practice on the coordination for a few of those massage/stretch techniques. Was able to do most of the routine with my partner. But we could feel where the shoulder was a little tight, so had to go easy on the strong stretches.

Some of those shoulder moves can be quite strong if you are not careful about it. Better to err on the light side to make it more pleasant for the client.

Module 32

Start with a really good stretch. Went quite well with my partner, started by pressing against the shoulder but thumbing at the same time needs a little practice. Working the finger under the scapula was pretty intense at first, so took it slow but it eventually loosened and got to work a little deeper. I think some of these moves may work a little better than what I had learned doing deep tissue work.

That's the way to do it - go slowly and gradually go in deeper. Thai Massage sometimes gets a bad rap as a painful modality, but that's only when therapists go in too fast too deep and without feeling.

Module 33

I am a little familiar with the sitting position, getting a thai massage and they end it with a spinal twist. The trap and neck massage I believe is really useful, especially when someone is sitting in a chair. Which my partner really enjoyed. Was able to try the wiggle back stretch. It was pretty intense, and even a little stretch for my legs as well. That was as far as we could go for now, the power stretch would have been too much.

I don't use those power stretches much,  but for the right client they can be a hit. So the trick is to find a practice partner where you can learn some power moves without killing your partner. Laugh

Module 34

So we jumped right into the back traction. There was no awkwardness for us, probably because me and my partner have been doing all the routines together so far. The only thing for me was to really focus on technique during the stretch, since he is a bigger fellow. I had a little balance issue with the second stretch. Practice that one a little more.

Module 35

I know a lot of this was covered for me during my Massage therapy class. But we mainly focused on the Swedish aspect. So this was nice to hear it again(refresher) from the Thai massage aspect. Plenty of extra little tips and pointers to take into consideration. This has been a great experience, so glad I found this class! Learned so much and can finally begin to work on a style I feel in love with.

Massage Touch Secrets Pt. 1

Wasn't sure if posting was necessary, but I felt like it anyway! This was a very informative lesson. Lots of great tips to focus on for massage. Usually doing a massage I'm thinking about what I do step by step, but listening to this helps me clear my head and just do the moves and not think to hard on what I have to do.

After you got through the 35 certification modules, forum posting is not required, but it is highly appreciated and I am glad that you are doing it.
