Module 1 Thai foot massage
I was learning something new here surprise me our feet has had energy lines. I love the video is very informative and closeup view is really good to show thing clearly which is good start for beginner like me. i was practicing just now with my knee bend and arm angle slight bend, applying pressure on my model foot.
So my Question is :
1)Before we start to give foot massage shall we need to soak the model leg with warm water first?
2)when i ask the model hows the feel when i give pressure on their foot and respond was like "not pain" and "No so much pressure" isit due to i was pressing incorrectly or myhand was not strong enough as i know we "work with bodyweight not muscle power.
3)How many times so i need to massage the energy line toward big toe, middle toe and small toe?
Hi Ming, welcome to our forum and the Thai Foot Massage course. Please take a moment and familiarize yourself with out certification check list here (specifically the first section about the bio in the forum profile):
Here are the answers to your questions:
1. This is up to you. It is certainly a nice touch, and many massage shops here in Thailand do it. It makes the session a bit more classy. However there is also nothing wrong with doing the foot massage without foot bath.
2. If your hand is not strong enough, you can easily replace it with forearms, elbows, or knees. You will learn this throughout the course. However the strength of your hands will increase with practice.
Working with body weight instead of muscle power does not mean that you have less power available. It just means that you are using your power more effectively and that it feels better for your client. You can generate plenty of power with body weight.
3. There is no fixed rule how long you can work on those lines. However a good number is between 3 and 5 times.
Module 2
I realized when applying pressure on my partner foot their knee starts to move,so i used pillow put underneath for support and it didnt move anymore,i have a problem with myself with my finger not strong enough for generating power. i love how you explained in the video which show different technique can be used. i find the Knuckle is abit painful as it hurt my finger. but i knew it is part of massage technique will need get used to it.
Here my question is:
1)Is it always use more energy by pressing hard using bodyweight give a good result,as my partner always requested me to give more pressure as she enjoy it.
2)Is there anything i can do to increase my finger power?
Yes, there are lots of things you can do, and they will all come up in future modules of the course. You can use your forearms, elbows, knees and even feet to apply more pressure without straining your hands. Specifically module 4 is all about that.
If you work with your body weight instead of with muscle power, you should be able to apply more pressure without using a lot more energy or straining. Try to engage your whole body and not just your hands as much as possible.
Also just by doing more foot massage your hands will become stronger after a while.
When you get to the second part of the course you will work with oil or lotion. This reduces friction on your knuckles which might work better for you.
