Module 1:

I find that this is a very good video as an introduction, to the rocking tecniques and their benefits. Some benefits i have already know, as the material that Shama has shared.

A thing that was completly new for me was the tecnique of the "wiggle".

I find the multiple effects of the rocking in the hole body, and the automassage that the rocking produces simply wonderful.

Is a good thing that Shama tells that there is persons who dosent like this technique, as all the techniques naturally, and i think that this "limitation" says more about the person, not about the technoque. As always, we should adapt every technique i think to every client.

Without doubt, i think that the rocking technique is very powerful. And combined with the linear pressure i think is the perfect balance to every client and every massage 😀

Hola Pablo, bienvenidos al curso and welcome to our forum. Regarding "doing things wrong", as long as you follow the guidelines in our certification check list, you will be just fine! Smile

Certification Check List

As you stated, not every technique works for every client. Our job is to creatively and intuitively determine what works best for a particular client. Rocking moves are very forgiving and work on most people very well since they are generally painless and pleasant.

BUT, there are exceptions, and it is possible to overdo rocking moves. They are best done in combination with linear techniques as an additional tool in our repertoire, not as a system all by itself.

Module 2:

This Module is called Chi Machine. I have no problem with the rocking technique Chi Machine, i knew some similar moves but Shama say a thing very interest that i have didnt here before: the importance of make a pause, of waiting a time to let the body to percibe the effects of the move. I think this is a very good advice and i think that is applicable to other techniques to.

The second move to traction the hip i liked very much and i have apllied it with no problem to.

The information for the feets and his relation with the hip i find it very useful. Since i see this video i have more clarity respect this issue and i think is a very important thing.

Sometimes it's those little things which make a big difference, like simply not doing anything for a few seconds after the Chi Machine!

The next video will make the foot massage even much more clear. Smile

After a Pause in the course of personal issues i come back recharged to the practice and to the post too. I am gonna post very continued these days.

 Module 3: Leg rocking

This video shows how to do the Leg rocking, the basic technics of the movement and variations, mainly with the palms.

  • With this movement man Works on the muscles and on the hip.
  • The therapist should see and percibe in which direction do more enphasis with the rock, according to the hip of the client.
  • Its a very important issue to consider the rhythm of the rock, because that could be the difference between a comfortable or uncomfortable massage.
  • To work on the near or the far leg, the terapist must be stable and with a good distance of the receiver body, this way the body-mechanics would be better and less effort.
  • I have no problems using this technique.

I am looking forward to your 'recharged' posts. Smile

Thanks Shama for your words!

Module 4: Hips Streches 1

  • The first technique the rocking leg with the fingers i like it very much, i find that is more effective the pressure in the muscle, so i have used a lot since a few weeks 😀
  • The second technique, the traction of the hip with a rocking movement, i find it more difficult. I can do the rotation of the ankel and the compresión and traction of the hip but in a fluid but slowly speed, the rocking movement with the other moves is not jet comfortable to me.
  • The third technique, the traction hip with the rotation pressure in the cuadriceps, i have also used a lot, its very comfortable to me, i knew only the pressure in the cuadriceps but with the rocking movement i think is more nice for the person who recibe and for me also is more like a trance haha, so i like it and i used!
  • The four technique, the “throwing leg up and down”, i have used to relax the inner muscles of the leg, but it was good not for all the persons… with some people who has dificult to relax, with the movement to “throw” the leg they tense again the whole area
  • The fifth technique, the rocking movement in the both legs on the position with a flected leg (like vrksasana) it was new to me and i feel that is a lot better that the linear pressure, is more relaxing and nice for the reciever.

Regarding the "throwing the leg up" technique, it only works if you talk to the client while you do it and make them aware that they are holding tension, and ask them to try to let go. This technique is not a massage technique but more of a relaxation exercise which the client has to participate in.

Module 5: Hips Streches 2
- I knew the rotation of the hip joint with a motion of the leg and knee, but i didnt knew the movement of “the knee forward and the ankle out”. I feel more effective and direct this way that the video shows. It Works very well to me.

- Second technique, the rocking movement of the knee to the chest working on the hip joint and psoas, i like it very much. I have used since i saw on the video, but in some people more tense or rigid, i feel that it is not very comfortable (perhaps i am not doing it the right way) for him/her, because the another leg on the floor come a little up, it moves and tense a little for the stiff muscle psoas that they have.

- Third technique, very good technique, comfortable to me and the recievers, but i have only applyed with the more flexible persons that i have attended.

- The four technique of the rocking movement of the leg to the in or the center of the body, i find it easy to do and work very well.

- Fifth technique, thai stretch with rocking motion, it works to me fine, the rocking motion adds the technique softness and its good to make a deeper strech more gentely and nice.

- 6th technique, the pression wiggling on the hip with the leg resting on my leg i like it very much, but i dident applied this to all the people (like all the technichs obviosly). Its a very good way to relax the muscles from the hip, leg and psoas, i feel it, but also is very intimacy, thats way i dident do this with the persons who i feel that this move will be too much contact or intimacy.

- The Torsion with the rocking motion i find great, the linear motion before it was sometimes too much, but with the rocking motion it feels for everyone i have didit more comfortable, relaxing, the person was not worry abour if the move will be to much, they all enjoy it (i know that torsions are not reccomended in case of injury to the column)

Regarding the second technique, yes, the opposite hip will come up if you do the technique strongly. There is nothing wrong with the hip coming up a little, but if you just do the technique more gently, then the hip will not come up.

And as you said, you can never use all the techniques for everyone. That's the art of it - to decide and to know what kind of technique works best for which client and which techniques do not.

 Module 6: Hip Rocking

  • First technique, hip rocking doing a gente pressure on the ilion, i knew already and i use it a lot, specially to move my body from side to side or up to down the client.
  • Second technique, do the rocking down in to the legs or in to the upper body. Very good and useful, i like it because it moves the whole body and the perception is that the energy is flowing from the legs to the upper body without a separation.
  • Third technique, do the rocking working on one side of the hip, pushing up the back and pushing down the hip with rocking movement. I like it very much and Works very well, to do a rocking movement with the work on the muscles of the hip groin or leg. It is a very nice and useful technique.
  • Fourth technique, working only pushing up the low back with the weight of the body in rocking. I like the techinique to rest my legs and knees, because as the therapist is sitting on the floor, there is less effort that doing the moving before with the weight on the foot and knee (but there is a little more effort for the arms). Im general, my legs are more tired so i like it also this technique.
  • Fifth, get more intense the stretch of the lower back, excelent technique! Very intense stretch, using only the weight of the body. Its now part of my regular repertory =D
  • Sixth, rocking in the whole body with a hand on the hip and other on the torso… simply wonderful! Easy and great technique. I have no difficult with this part, i have more clarity about the rocking movement throw the whole body. Thanks!

It sounds like the rocking moves are working out well for you. Personally I feel that rocking techniques are a great addition to almost any massage style.

Module 7: Abdomen

  • First technique, pressure in the inner leg with the hip reciever on the knees of the giver: it was a very good movement for me and my clients, but i only do this with persons who i have confident and a relation built, i think is to much intimacy for someone who i didnt know. The recievers like it very much for the back and the legs.
  • Second, sacro float rocking with the hands on the knees: nice move, i have no problem with this.
  • Third, Sacro float with the knees on the therapist leg: very good technique, i knew this before and i used tha main of the times, but i didnt know the gentle way of geting in and to geting out of the final position, the inclination is a very good detail that improves the technique.
  • Rocking belly sándwich and rocking in the torso: nice and easy technique, gentle for the recievers and easy for the givers, very very good.

 Module 8: Chest and Shoulders

  • Rocking in the lower rip cage, good technique, i have no problems with this.
  • Circling movement on the sternon and up and down movement on the sternon: its true that in no many places teach movements onm this part of the body, but i think that they are very potent. This movement on the sternon i think that they are very simple and great, specially in persons who are blocked and they have stiff in the chest área. It decompress something emotional, so this movement like it to me very much, they dont requere to much effort and are very effective.
  • Pressure betwween the upper chest and the shoulders, up and down and sideways, the same thing that before, good and with low effort ffor the therapist. I knew the right pressure but i have never see it before the rocking movement.
  • Rotation of the shoulders with the hands in the back: i thing this is a wonderful and very beatiful technique. I like it very much, but it was a Little difficult to me to do it. The body balance with the flexibility on the hips i think they are not a thing so easy to combined. Also, i have no problem top ut a hand under the shoulder and back, but with the second hand i have more problems, because with the same hand i must to get the other arm up and put my hand in the back of the shoulder.
  • Rotation of one shoulder from the other side, with a rocking, back and forward movement and a spinal twist. Very very good technique, easier als the technique befor i think, easy to do and very nice to recibe it. The people love it this pasive movement of the shoulders and arms, so i am gonna inclued this move i think in the most of the cases, specially with the people who has problems of movility of the upper body.

No doubt some of the techniques take a while to become natural and fluid. The longer you use them, the easier they will feel. The rocking moves become a part of your body and take on an almost meditative quality after a while. You seem to be doing well with most of them, and the others will take more practice.

However if there are some techniques which you just like better, and others that you don't feel so comfortable with, definitely focus on those which come to you more naturally. All the techniques in this course are options to choose from, not mandatory sequences. So don't feel that you have to be excellent with all of them. Smile

Module 9: Arms

  • I love the detail of how to taking in a good way the hand
  • Swinging the arm with a pressure on the upper chest: i knew this technique and i normally apllied it, but i didnt applied the hole body movement, i only do this with my arms and now i realized that i can improve a lot this movement, it feels better for everybody and its important to folow the principels of massaging with the “hara” 😀
  • Circle rotation of the arm and shoulder, very good to make that people relax and they dont try to help man doing the massage.
  • Rocking movement for the arms sideways and up and down, very good to increse the range of movement and to relax the whole muscles of the arms. As you said, it was very useful to my pacients who had their shoulders with a lot of stiffnes, becaus, switching the directions of the movement, their could not follow the movement that i was doing.
  • The slow rocking motion i practiced already but not the fast motion. The combined movements of working the upper arm, the lower arm and hand, works well and feel wonderful. Now when i want to do rocking movements i normally do this sequence.

I just had a meeting with a fellow therapist and subscriber to my site. He is from Chile as well and the plan is that he will translate my videos into Spanish and subtitle them. We also want to work on translating my website into Spanish. These are big plans and will take a while, but I am very excited about it.

Module 10: Back 1 and 2

  • Rocking with one hand and pressure with the other on the sacrum: very good, i do the both things but separated. The combination of the techniques works great.
  • Rocking on the sacrum with both hands and the whole body: i love this movement, its very useful to combined with the transitions and movements of the therapist body arround the pacient body.
  • Rocking on the glutes against the sacrum: very good way to added a rocking motion to the works on the glutes. The pressure-movement with one hand and another it was a little difficult to combined at the beggining, but later it where fine to me. I prefer the pressure with the palms more als the fingers, because is too much for the main of the pacient.
  • Rocking pressure with the knees on the glutes: wonderful for the big people, very useful.
  • Rocking the sacrum with pressure in the back: good technique, a little difficult at the beggining, but later i think i could dominate it.
  • The fast wiggle on the back or “the DJ movement” hahaha, very nice move, and fun to do, no complains on my pacients.
  • Double hands, fingers on the back and heel of the palm, good movements to rock the back. I love the rocking, but to work on the back of big clients i prefer the linear pressure with the forearms and elbows. To little clients i think this techniques works perfectly.
  • Rocking the scapula: wonderful technique, love this technique! very good to combined with the working on the muscles from the upper back and with the next technique, the spinal torsión from the shoulder. Combined this movements, i could relax and relieve the zone with a lot of succesfull.

End of the reports!
