Module 14 Hip Rocking, Back Stretches, and Transitions

More Rocking, you know I’m super into it!🧡💕 I’ve been using the combination stretch of low back and anterior hip and found my clients seem to enjoy this. Sometimes I am using a pillow under the knee if it seems like too much stress on the joint for folks. I’ve been practicing the transitions, with my practice person initially and it does take a few times to smooth it out! Thank you for the breakdown of detailed this movement !

Module 15  Abdomen and Chest

Yas! Thank you for the reminder that the hand is not just a tool and needs to be “doing something”. Listening and being present with what you are feeling or sensing with your hands is really elevates a massage session.

I love the press into the soft spot  (not the shoulder not the ribs). This feels so great when I have this done and my clients loooovvve this.

I’m also wondering about gender identity and receiving  chest massage during Thai massage for trans, non-binary folks, or people undergoing HRT and your thoughts or experiences (if you have had any) and the conversation, so clients are informed, can make informed choices for themselves, and are comfortable and feel safe  during the massage.

Module 16 Shoulder work

The combination of the elephant walk on the pectoral is area with the combination of the gentle pull/traction is amazing. I’m also enjoying ways to work the shoulder in the supine position.
The lateral edge off the foot in the axilla with some remaining gentle traction definitely has elevated this technique.
I don’t usually put my shoulder under the knee supine but have been enjoying experimenting with the way and liquid pulling of the shoulder from behind. Thank you! Also the modification for flexible follis was great!!!!

Your enthusiasm comes through loud and clear! Smile

I actually do not have any experience with this. When I was doing Thai Massage work in the US in the earlier days of my career, none of that was an issue, so I never even had to think about it. Then I spent 20 years living in Thailand. There are plenty of gays, lesbians, and 'ladyboys' in Thailand. And yes, ladyboy is the actual word used in Thailand for trans women.

The big difference in Thailand is that nobody makes an issue out of any of that. There are no 'issues', no demonstrations, no social upheaval, no discussions about pronouns, bathrooms, etc. When I originally studied Thai Massage 25 years ago, two of the teachers in one school were 'ladyboys'. And guess what, nobody cared, nobody questioned how to deal with them.

When it comes to massage in Thailand, it is quite simple. If someone looks like a woman and has breasts, then she is treated like a woman, and is called a 'she'. If someone looks like a man and does not have breasts, then he is treated like a man for the sake of the massage session and is called a 'he'. That's about the extent of it in Thailand. Nobody is interested in creating issues where none need be unlike in the Western world.

There are no dozens of sexes and pronouns in Thailand although there are lots of ladyboys there. And no, ladyboy is not an offensive word there but it's just the word they use. Thailand always had probably the largest trans population in the world, but it never became an issue. Those ladyboys are just part of life there, and nobody bats an eye when seeing one. It's just something normal there.

Nobody gets offended, nobody needs to 'fight' for their rights, nobody gets attacked or canceled for their opinions, and nobody feels unsafe about who they are or want to be. That's just how it is in Thailand - easygoing. Live and let live. No issues, no big deal.

I realize that this is not how it is in the Western world, but I can't help with that or give any advice. I have not lived in any Western country in 25 years.

Module 17 Arms and Hands

I always forget how amazing arm and hand massage feels, and it always seems to relax and help decrease the stress level for my clients. I carved out time to include a detailed arm and hand massage for my clients, and they really appreciated it! Especially as we spend so much time on phones and computers for work!
Thank you!!!
