Sciatica Module 1 and 2

Thank you very much for every single detail you make it  easy to understand and all pictures from the VDO very clearly. I understand more and more . I think after study module 1 and 2 made myself more confident to work with a client who is suffering from sciatica and now I knew testing methods and will help me for diagnosis . GOOD to know sciatic almost always affects only one side of the body one side is enough to be suffer . I love to study from your courses you made it easy .

I am happy to hear that you like the Sciatica course. It's highly detailed and there are very few therapists who have such specific knowledge of sciatica, so it's a great skill to have.

Sciatica 3 and 4

Module 3 likes story of Sciatica nerve where is start , main problem areas and very important is comprehensive . I could see more picture of sciatica , clearly understand.

I was practice when my partner face down on the floor start warm up with rocking L4 and L5 move up and down between sacrum . I used my elbows in the groove put more weigh then rolling down and released , if my client on the table and I stand could I used my elbow in the groove work on L4 and L5 in the same side that I stand is that okay if I work this way?

Here's a question for you, Pung: You had sent in a registration form for the Complete Thai Massage certification program. However I don't recall seeing a certification registration from you for the Sciatica course. Are you posting for certification or just to communicate?

The reason why I am asking is this. If you want a certificate for the Sciatica course, then you cannot combine 2 modules in one post as per our Certification Check List, item #4.

If you are not posting to get a certificate, then you are fine - just checking...Smile

And yes, you can do the elbow/forearm rolling technique on a massage table as well. Just work on the far side of the spine so that you don't roll over the spine with your forearms.

Thanks Pung. The registration helps me to be organized. Then I know for sure if people are posting to be social or if they want a certificate. And it also tells me which kind of certificate they want.

If people post just to be social, they don't have to follow any rules. But if they want a certificate, they need to follow the certification standard. So the registration is what helps me figure that out. Smile

By the way, the link to the certification registration is in your course manual in the certification section.

The certification rules are explained here: (You should read it, especially item #4)

Module 6

Module 6 is very useful for me. I always spent time with legs and lower back for my clients depend on what they need. I've practiced with my partner he is the bigger guy use knees is very power technique I like to practice with a bigger person  when I am going to work and I have to work for bigger client I can work on them with confident . by the way I use both knee put on left and right in the same time and walk on the hamstrings when I walk I put my weight into his hamstrings up and down hamstrings to buttocks and I work with one of my client she is medium side and her problem is tight hamstrings I was using my forearms I can felt how tight . I was leaning and circling on the hamstrings for loosening it .

About one sided lower back lift up I've practiced with my  partner hard to do it . I can't go higher , however I try to lift as much as I can and he said felt good with his lower back.

Squeeze the hamstrings remind me when I was young I did this for my grandma on her legs this is original Thai massage . I believe all Thai kids knew how to do this one with out taking course Laugh

At least they used to know this. The present young generation, especially in the cities, is losing a lot of Thai culture. However my Thai wife, when she was a child, massaged especially her grandmother all the time.

Module 7

I think this is a difficult step for many clients who have a problem about lower back and stiff body.

I was try spinal twist with my new client , I took the client's foot and place it across his opposite leg and slowly apply pressure to bring his knee down toward but he couldn't if this happen  before I took your course I might stop and did not try to do it , so I knew now I can help him more, then I was rocking and rocking  the knee down but his knee still couldn't go down much  . Then I used another technique something might work for him , I chose to put his foot in my groin  and  I was rocking and try to lean his leg down as much as I could and he could feel stretch in lower back and I was rocking side way as well . He doesn't has a sciatica problem but he not flexible . It was good to stretch his lower back and hamstring.

With some people you just make slow progress if they are very locked up. When I feel that they have a hard time with straight stretches, I always switch to more gentle rocking moves. That's almost always a step in the right direction in my experience.

Module 8

Thank you for great exercises for sciatica . I have learned a lot from this video, one of the reason that I took this course, one of my clients who moved away and she called me , she'll be in town and coming to see me . She has  been suffering from bad sciatica. I watch 2-3 times already try to remember all everything and will give to my special client, standing and sitting exercises. I can't wait to see her again. It'll be useful for who have a problem from sciatica can exercise when they standing and sitting.

Thank you very much

by the way thank you for share all of your knowledge that made me more confidence about sciatica Cool

Not sure I understand what you mean.  What makes you think that I said that Thai Massage is not therapeutic? Of course it is as we both know! It is totally a therapeutic system which can help with lots of problems. Smile

You don't have to do anything. I did not get the notice from examprofessor about your test results yet. I went to their site to check on it, but the site is down, I found out. Whenever it is up and running again I will check for your test results and then I will send you the certificates. Smile
