Hi,

My name is Kimiyo. I'm a NY licensed massage therapist having my private practice in my town. I've been practicing Korean Yoga/qigong and my style of massage is also Korean acupressure massage integrated with trigger point therapy and myoskeletal alignment technique.

Every time I learn a different massage or receive a message from another massage therapist, I absorb it and add it to my practice. So my clients sometimes ask what kind of massage I do because it's very unique.

I went to a Thai massage a few days ago and enjoyed it! I like the firm pressure it gives and stretches. And it's easy on the massage therapist's body...that, I don't know yet because I didn't practice it. Looking forward to practicing this new modality.

Thai Massage is definitely easier on your body since you can use hands, forearms, elbows, knees, and feet. Plus you learn to work with body weight instead of muscle power. This also helps to reduce strain on your body.

Hi! I'm Susan Moody.  I'm Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and a Licensed Massage Therapist in Indiana, USA.  My business closed March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic and I've not opened business since.  I have done a few masked chair massage gigs over the past 2.5 years, and have taken many online classes. Before the pandemic, I took multiple Thai Massage classes with a variety of instructors.  Most of my instructors (if not all) trained in Thailand.  The majority of Thai Massage classes I've taken are introductory classes.  I did take a specialized Thai Foot Massage class using a rosewood Thai massage stick. I have been attracted to Thai Massage and have taken as many Thai for the Table classes as I could find.  My focus has always been table massage, though I also do chair massages.

I am drawn to the more gentle Thai Massage like the style taught in these classes. Thai Massage has gotten a bad rap (search Thai Massage on YouTube and you'll see rough, painful massages), and I'd like to be one of the therapeutically effective workers. I am most acquainted with stretches, but less comfortable with proper body movement for the therapist.  I love and appreciate that there was an introductory video that shows some of the most-used postures and how to get used to them. I am thrilled I found Thai Healing Massage and hope to be able to do the complete course.  Right now, I am taking the Hip class for the CEUs.

Welcome to our forum, Susan.

Our training is as far from rough, painful Thai Massage as it can get, as you will find out in this course, and in all our courses. In fact, our style is gentle, sensitive, and focused on the client's needs, not on a one-size-fits-all routine. This makes it more effective therapeutically, not less.  We don't believe in the 'the harder you press, the better it must be for you' notion.
