Hi there ~~
I used to live in Virginia and began studying thai massage with Thai Institute in Arlington, VA. Then I took a theory class with the Naga Center in Oregon. Then I became an LMT. Now I work as a medical masseuse at the hospital, here in a small college town. I am hoping to deepen my massage practice, I am trying to start a part-time business of my own, doing thai massage (although here everyone asks for Swedish) so I want to be really confident in my skills so I can convert people to thai massage ; ) i think it will be much for sustainable for me in the long run. I am interested and have studied Ayurveda, and am currently creating an intake form for clients that utilizes thai theory/Ayurveda. I would like to do more health coaching, too. Am trying to focus on massage, tho my passion is birth work/midwifery, it's not time for that yet.
So excited to find a new teacher, maybe I can come to Thailand at some point! Would really like to if it works out.
Thanks.
Emma
Hi Emma,
Welcome to our community. You found the right place to deepen your massage practice!
If you have not done so yet, I suggest you join our facebook group as well:
https://web.facebook.com/groups/ThaiHealingMassageAcademy/
There some threads in there which might help you in presenting Thai Massage to clients and converting them over:
Unique Thai Massage Advantages
Naturally people will ask for Swedish massage if that's all they know and understand. However my personal experience, and that of many of our students, is that if you are really good at Thai Massage, then people will find it very useful and beneficial and will not only convert over but tell many of their friends.
We have many courses that will help you get to that level, and we have many members who will gladly share their experience. We have a very friendly and helpful community, especially in the facebook group.
