Thai Massage spinal twist

Thai Massage spinal twist

Thai Massage is more than a series of stretches

Thai massage is much more than a collection of yoga-like stretches. It is a therapeutic healing system that has been used in Thailand for over 2,000 years. Thai massage has close relatives in Japan’s Shiatsu, China’s Tui Na, and India’s yoga therapy. All of those therapeutic systems have been effectively used  long before there ever was a modern medicine.

Western massage emphasizes anatomical, scientific and clinical knowledge. Thai massage focuses on an internal energy which is not visible but has been at the heart of many Asian healing systems for thousands of years.

Good therapists use more than their hands

Regardless of eastern or western style, all dedicated and effective massage therapists use more than their hands. They use their energy, their intuition, their intentions and their feelings of compassion. They often develop those skills in spite of their official training.

Thai massage is based on the concept of subtle energy. Without this energy Thai massage is really just a series of pressure points and stretches, but with it it can be a very effective healing arts form.

The qualities that elevate Thai massage from its basic mechanical functions to a healing system have nothing to do with technical massage skills, and are taught in very few massage schools. They can be intuitively developed with practice over time, but they can be learned as well.

Massage therapy and personal growth cultivation

Most clients would prefer to receive a session from a therapist who has open and clean energy, who is kind, friendly, compassionate, relaxed, intuitive, sensitive, caring, and a good communicator. All those qualities are in the realm of personal growth, not in the area of massage technique. Anyone can study Thai massage techniques, but without the qualities of personal growth you end up being a massage mechanic instead of a healer.

ThaiHealingMassage is a training system which focuses on excellent technique right alongside the development of higher awareness and personal growth.
