thanks for your comment. I am not familiar with the rules in the UK. In the US you can get CEs (continuing education credits), which all massage therapists have to get yearly, from both live and long distance courses. The course provider has to be certified by an association called NCBTMB (national certification board for therapeutic massage and body work).

You might want to check on the rules in the UK. I have students all over the world, US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, France, UK, eastern Europe etc. Therefore it is difficult for me to be up to speed on licensing and other requirements.

But if you happen to find out that there is a way to get long distance courses approved for CPD in the UK, please let me know, and I will try to follow up on it.

Hi shama. Another great post from you, I don’t know where you find the time! I agree very much with what you say and have done both and the facility to go back and refresh your memory is such an important part of having the instruction on dvd for me. I have three of your courses lined up to buy on the new year. The only other issue you don’t mention is cpd (continuing professional developement) qualifying points. In the UK we have to be able to provide evidence of so many hours study each year to maintain our registration and, as far as I know, can only get verification from a taught course. With metta.

You are absolutely right Deon, both live and online courses need to be in our repertoire. Especially when we already have experience in a particular modality, it is quite easy to learn more from a video course.

I think it’s really great to live in these times where we have access to so much technology so easily. I’d say that both “live training” as well as “online courses” make for the ideal. Taking any course (on-line or live) from another teacher, in addition to your own primary instruction is very effective in broadening your scope, repertoire and understanding of this magnificent modality. I don’t think it’s possible to get too much training since it will just serve to improve and increase your abilities as a practitioner, elevating your work to the form of Art that it really is.
